Jose Chase2 said:so, basically, you think patriotism is a bad thing?

well, the way you’re framing it makes it sound like it is; since you're acting all shocked that my family should have been evacuated from a war zone.🤣
but if being a patriot means suffering and being part of a collective—ugh, such a gross, old-school word—then I guess I'm not one.
i don't suffer; i don't care about some battle on iron; i don't remember any columns of refugees, and honestly, i didn't exactly hold the pen during the big political treaties back in the day.

but if being a patriot means being a loyal citizen who doesn't feel the need to run the math when things go south—especially when those bad Mexicans, who aren't even around in those numbers anymore, might try to block the railroads again; and let's be real, the state can barely handle a fight to begin with—then yeah, i'm a patriot.
i mean, does anyone actually worry that those remaining extremists can even pull anything off?😕

I wonder how much Hannah Davis18 would be singing if every single veteran back in the early 90s had just bailed and fled the country. 🙄

Are you blind or something?

But yeah, the ones who ran were the same ones acting all patriotic now; honestly, they did.👎

Suffering... we were talking about the feeling of suffering.
The real issue is high unemployment and crappy wages; whether I want to feel it or not, that's what's happening.

The real issue? High unemployment and crappy wages. Whether I want to admit it or not, that's what I'm feeling.

So money is the only thing that matters, huh? 🙂

thank God most Americans actually have some national pride—unlike you. 👎

whatever, honestly😛
Olivia Nguyen4 was the one who actually mentioned getting wrecked by that whole brotherhood and unity thing; weirdly enough, I don't recall ever hearing that myself.

who sells out for $667 a month at a grocery store checkout.😳
i didn't say it was the only thing, just an example, i guess.

but i don't give a damn, so deal with it.

If we look back a few decades to those good old days when, as Edward Green says, you couldn't even tell if a baby was an American, a Mexican, a Mexican, a Turk, or a Mexican.

But today? You can tell instantly.

wow, what an "epochal" insight, seriously? wtf?

The hypocrisy is unreal—you spent this whole thread crying a river over Mexicans, yet you couldn't care less about your own people. So much for that multicultural European vibe. 🙄🙄

and as for the Mexicans;😲 maybe things aren't going great for you either 🤣
you're probably never gonna see that from me; since Mexicans 😂

it’s huge because you don't get that having a problem isn't the same thing as suffering; I have problems because I live here, but I'm not exactly suffering.

Olivia Nguyen4 mentioned being absolutely crushed by that whole "brotherhood and unity" crowd; funny how I never heard that side of things.
😁

obviously. you're just blinded by the money👎

Is it better to be drunk on cash or high on brotherhood and unity? 🥳

😍

let’s just be happy and joyful, completely detached from any kind of "-isms."

Nothing is worse than suffering?

Ha. Fucking ha.

And I'm supposed to be the child here.

I guess I just love your philosophy—what do you call it? Cheap, cosmopolitan optimism? Let's all just be merry and blissfully ignorant of any political ideologies. Why don't you try being a marriage counselor for couples trying to conceive? Or maybe a child psychologist? I’d honestly love to see you try saying a sentence like that to an intelligent, complicated, anxious twelve-year-old.

It must be nice living by such a simplistic code. No problems at all—as long as you pay your taxes, you've done your duty to the country. I mean, where does it say you actually have to love it? Well, for now, as long as there aren't shells falling on your head, while the coast is still the cleanest part of the region, and you can still lounge on a beach and breathe fresh air, I suppose it's good enough to stay. If, God forbid, something happens tomorrow that puts you in some unpleasant situation, thank God there are trains, planes, ships, bikes, etc., etc., and you can just head straight out.

Honestly, the only thing I’m happy about is that I've heard from plenty of people on other forums who share my exact take—they just don't feel like coming over here to argue with idiots 👋

frozentinker432, sending love—you hit the nail on the head there 😘

I'm heading out

stop being such a pain; I already 😁 said I was loyal; just not to somewhere like Minnesota, for example.

Edward Green said:So you can do it today?

Since there’s just a dash where your ethnicity should be on your birth certificate, I guess you could.
And look, borders exist for a reason; you can't just ignore them. It used to be easier to play dumb back when everyone was acting all "brotherly" toward one another.

Honestly, Edward, if you hate this country and its people so much—if you truly don't care about who or what you are, or if you even feel guilty about being listed as an American on your birth certificate (does it even say that? If not, this whole argument is pointless)—then just move. One less problem to deal with. (Just a little something for Hannah Davis18)

Hey, I’ve got a question here 🥳
If someone were actually trying to warn people about Mexicans who have done all sorts of things and might do them again, it’s honestly pretty likely 🥳

How do you guys usually tell a Mexican apart from an American?
I mean, what about a third-generation Mexican living in the States who speaks perfect English? You can't just listen for an accent or whatever.

The thing is, I’ve known people for years before finding out they were Mexican. God, I even found out about my own background right after learning my ABCs—my neighbor had to tell me. 😁
So, how do you actually know? 🙂

Ha! Give me a break.

And suddenly, I’m the immature one here.

I really love this philosophy of yours—what do you call it? Cheap cosmopolitan optimism? Just keep everything sunny, happy, and completely insulated from any kind of "-isms." Honestly, have you considered a career change? Maybe try being a marriage counselor for couples trying to conceive, or perhaps a child psychologist? I would absolutely love to see you attempt to drop a line like that on an intelligent, complex, anxious twelve-year-old.

It must be truly wonderful to live by such a simplistic worldview. No problems at all—as long as you pay your taxes, you’ve fulfilled your duty to the country. Since when does anyone actually *have* to love their homeland? Right now, sure, as long as there aren't missiles falling on your head, as long as the coast is still pristine and you can lounge on a beach breathing clean air, it’s "good enough" to stay. If, heaven forbid, something happens tomorrow that puts you in a unpleasant situation, thank God we have trains, planes, ships, bikes, and whatnot to facilitate a quick exit.

👍 Oh, please... she's just a "citizen of the world."
