Android boot loop issues

Hey everyone, I’ve run into a massive headache with my Samsung Galaxy S series. I was just trying to kill off that annoying low battery notification, so I downloaded this app that’s supposed to suppress it. Everything seemed fine until I rebooted the phone, and now the whole thing is completely bricked—it’s just stuck staring at me from the boot logo and won't actually load the OS. Just factory reset the thing...
Shut it down completely... then hold down the volume up button while you press and hold the power button. Once you get into that service menu, use the volume buttons to scroll down to "wipe data/factory reset" and hit the power button to confirm. It's gonna wipe everything on the internal storage, but it should get you back up and running. Your SD card will be totally fine.

I actually dug that up on Google and gave it a shot but it didn't work btw because the whole interface is stuck in Chinese, so I can get into the menu but when I try to pick an option using that lock button nothing happens, and I even tried different combinations with the volume keys and stuff but nothing worked, so I ended up just plugging it into my laptop and flashing the new THL T11 standard ROM onto it instead :S
