I want to know if I can just install the new OS without wiping all my programs. Honestly, the thought of reinstalling everything from scratch sounds like a nightmare. If there's a way to do this without messing too much with the installation process, let me know. No instructions provided.Thanks.👍

Look, this isn't some magic fix for your software. It just saves the user profile.

Exactly. You're just moving files, not the actual software that created them.

"Keep in mind that choosing the Custom installation won't save your software, so you'll have to reinstall whatever you need once you're on Windows 7."

Hey,
I’m looking to pick up Windows 7 Pro, but I need it to be installable on multiple machines. That means I need the Retail version, not OEM, since OEM ties you to a single PC. The problem is, I can't find anyone in any store here in Washington, D.C. offering both versions online; it's almost entirely OEM...

Where can I find a Retail copy?
😕

Where can I grab a "Retail" copy?

Well thanks, looks like it's available.

I see they have VUP and ROW versions listed. I assume VUP means VUP version upgrade, but what does ROW stand for? 😕

Probably "Rest of The World" 🤔

Help!

I have a MASSIVE problem. I am not entirely sure if the issue lies within Windows itself—but when I boot up my laptop and log in, everything is just black. There are no icons on the desktop, and even the Windows Taskbar is completely missing... the only thing that happens is that when I click repeatedly on the small arrow icon, the Sticky Keys prompt pops up, which is how I managed to get onto the internet. As you can clearly see, I am certainly no computer expert... but I really don't want to call a repair shop for this—if it turns out to be a minor glitch, I'd be too embarrassed to admit I couldn't fix it myself. I hope my description makes sense—though I realize it might be a bit vague! If anyone knows how to resolve this, please help! 😢

Any idea where I can find "Retail"?
😕

I'm not sure what you mean by installing it on multiple PCs???
It's one license per computer. With Retail, I guess you can move it to a different machine, but only if you uninstall it from the first one first. 🙂

Is this some kind of game or whatever? Like, does the extraction not even start, or does it just crash halfway through?

So, I downloaded this game in several WinRAR parts, right? Everything seems fine when I start the extraction process, but then I hit this wall—I get an error saying Windows won't let me extract anything larger than 4GB... apparently, because of some setting I picked during the Windows installation, I'm stuck with this limit and can't unpack anything bigger than that. I was just wondering if there's any way to actually get rid of that restriction so I can finally get things working 😉

It starts extracting just fine, but then it hits a snag and cuts out right at the end

The prices are... interesting, to say the least. 🙂

Is your HDD using a FAT32 file system? You probably need to convert it to NTFS.

Hey everyone, I’m running into a bit of a headache trying to get Win7 installed.
So, here's the deal: I go through the usual steps—picking my language, formatting the partition, and selecting where I want the new OS to live—but then the whole computer just decides to restart on me.
To be more specific, everything seems fine during the Copying Windows Files phase, but once it hits the "expanding windows files" part, it just sits at 0% and then triggers a reboot.
If anyone has any clue what might be causing this, I’d really appreciate the help.
Thanks in advance!

The whole process seems fine at first—I pick my language, format the partition, and select where I want the new OS to live—but then the computer just decides to reboot itself out of nowhere.
To be more specific, everything looks normal during the Copying Windows Files stage, but as soon as it hits the "expanding windows files" part, it hangs at 0% and then triggers an automatic restart.
If anyone has any inkling as to what might be causing this glitch, I would be incredibly grateful for the help.
Thanks in advance!

Well, I actually ran into a very similar situation myself once. I made the decision to go with the 64-bit version of Windows, and let me tell you, the whole thing was a total disaster from start to finish.🤷
