Noah Sanchez39 said:Honestly, I’d bet those errors are tied to those little Asus utilities you have installed—you can honestly just uninstall them without a second thought. If things start acting weird later, you can always reinstall them from the disc that came with the PC; 🙂
I don't even have them since I don't use Asus hardware;
those little programs are mostly just for overclocking or managing power consumption;
In my opinion, that error isn't anything dangerous 😉

Oh, thanks!
I went ahead and wiped them out, and everything seems fine so far
Could you recommend a good program to monitor my CPU and motherboard temperatures? Also, what's considered a "normal" temperature range so I know if I need to worry? I'm running an Intel Core i7

Thanks!

Wait, I’m completely lost—since when did Everest just disappear? What happened? How is this even possible?
hehe
Aida, seriously... 😁

To be clear, Everest used to be known as AIDA. Then they went and rebranded it back to AIDA. 🙂

..man, I really wanted to snap at someone for giving such half-baked advice,
..Service Pack 1 installed just fine, even though it froze up right at the end,
seriously, why is everyone obsessing over Vista? This junk is dragging through my gigabit connection
and while I was busy tweaking Vista settings, I could barely even hit 700 megs..

Just mess around with your services a bit—if you want to get that down to 500 MB, there's a solid guide over at tweakhound.com.

Can we please keep the linguistic bickering to private messages?

...useful advice,...yeah, I'll tweak it, whatever...
I honestly don't have the energy to go back and forth with them—let them talk to themselves instead..

I know this isn't quite the right place for this—but here we are..

Basically, I’m looking for a tool that can scan my GPU, motherboard, and other components—then automatically find the latest drivers and prompt me to download them directly.

Does anyone happen to know where I might be able to track down the music that pops up during video games? For instance, when you're playing something like Grand Theft Auto and you turn on the radio, there's just this massive selection of tracks playing... so I was wondering if there's a way to actually find those specific audio files hidden somewhere within the game folders.

ps: I'm posting this here since I'm running Windows 7, though I suppose that probably doesn't matter much, and I didn't really want to start an entirely new thread just to ask one quick question...

Has anyone actually gone through with installing Service Pack 1?

I agree. Honestly, Windows 7 feels faster to me now than it did initially, especially since I've been keeping up with Windows Update regularly. Even my Windows Experience Index score has seen a nice little bump 🙂

Look, I've run this on 2GB of RAM and I've run it on 768MB of RAM—what else do you want from me? Yeah, yeah, I know I'm being stubborn as hell, but honestly, I'll do whatever I want. 😁

Regarding the Windows Experience Index, listen: new hardware comes out all the time that’s faster and more powerful. If you aren't swapping in better components, the system isn't just going to magically hike up that score. It’ll either leave the index right where it is or potentially even downgrade it. Unless you actually drop in some newer, faster hardware, I highly doubt the score is going to climb with the exact same components you're using now. Try running the assessment again, that's my take on the index issue.

As for Service Pack 1, the software is going to demand it's already installed; otherwise, you won't even be able to get the installation started. Plus, you can't even pull down further updates without it, since so many patches rely on it to function. Honestly, this old laptop I have with only 768MB of RAM feels snappier now because of those fixes, even though I only use it to watch TV. I don't need anything more from it anyway. 👍

I've got a satellite card in my rig, but I'm hitting a wall trying to install it—the system just won't locate the driver. It worked fine back on Windows XP, but now on Windows 7, it’s like the hardware isn't even there. It's similar to plugging in a USB drive where you know it's physically connected, yet the PC acts like nothing happened. On XP, I could always hunt down the driver manually, but Windows 7 handles things differently, and I'm stuck. If anyone knows a workaround, I'd appreciate the help. 😁

@ Taylor Morales31
I distinctly remember my index sitting at a measly 1.9 before I installed Service Pack 1.
After the SP1 update (which I just reran a few minutes ago), the index jumped up to 4.4.🙂

@ Andrew Rogers6
Give this a shot.😉

Hmm, that's weird. It's definitely some kind of glitch; there's no way the score jumps that much for the exact same component. In my case, the Aero score actually dropped by about 0.1, while everything else stayed the same. I have no clue how that happened to you, but look—it didn't boost everything, because that's technically impossible for identical hardware. This system just totally glitched out on you. 👍
