So, I just picked up a new PC—mostly for gaming—and it’s honestly great. Now I'm stuck on which monitor to grab. I originally ordered a 24" LED, but they told me it's out of stock... so now I'm torn between a 24" or a 27" LED. The smaller one is cheaper $233—which matters a lot to my budget—but then again, I love watching movies on my setup, so a bigger screen might be better. The catch is the response time; the larger one is 5ms while the smaller one is 2ms. Some people tell me I won't even notice the difference, but others say I definitely will, especially since I've got a pretty beefy graphics card (NVIDIA GTX 570) that should push some high FPS. If anyone could help me out, I'd really appreciate it!

I just pulled the trigger on this 21.5'' monitor—super cheap, plus you get a 72-hour pixel warranty, which might help some of you decide...

And honestly, whether it's 2ms or 5ms, you aren't even gonna feel the difference (at least I didn't🙄)

Honestly, any 22-inch LCD or LED monitor running at 1920 x1080 will get the job done... enough for you. I picked up a Dell 22-inch model a few months back and, man, I'm pretty happy with it. Having games at 1920 x1080 resolution is more than plenty; the details look sharp, especially if you've got a decent GPU to crank everything up to max settings. If you go out and grab a monitor with a higher resolution, you’re probably just setting yourself up for disappointment... you won't be able to enjoy it for long once you realize your graphics card can't actually handle the extra load later on.

Let's be logical here... FPS stands for frames per second. What are the odds you're hitting 2000 FPS at HD resolution with that card in any actual game?????... I think that's impossible

I looked at a 22" with 2ms and a 24" with 5ms. I went with the 24" because the picture quality was better—it felt smoother, less grainy, and more natural... if money were no object, I'd have gone for the 27 inch

I originally ordered a 24" LED, but then they hit me up saying it's out of stock. So now I'm torn between going with a 24" or jumping up to a 27". The smaller one is cheaper $233—which definitely matters to my wallet—but I also spend a decent amount of time watching movies on this thing, so a bigger screen sounds better. The catch is the response time: the bigger one is 5ms while the smaller one is 2ms. Some people tell me I won't even notice the difference, but others swear I will—especially since I've got some serious horsepower under the hood (NVIDIA GTX 570) that'll be pushing plenty of FPS. If anyone can help me make up my mind, I'd appreciate it.

What kind of budget are we talking about here? If you want a snappy 24" (2ms) LED monitor, you're looking at roughly $667 minimum. You could grab a BenQ ZOWIE XL2411Z for around $1500-$$533 (that's a solid 23" LED option) and it's a great choice. Honestly, just scroll through the mega-thread above... and look, screen response time doesn't actually have anything to do with your graphics card—plus, those manufacturer specs are usually optimistic anyway, so that 5ms is probably going to end up being even higher in reality.

Here is my take on the Dell 2350V. I’ve been using it for two months now and it’s been perfectly fine. I picked it up mainly because it was a budget-friendly alternative to the Samsung Xl2370, and you can find them for about $433 these days. It actually packs quite a few features, including auto-brightness, a Cinema mode, dual web, and a stand that’s fully adjustable. Plus, it comes with a three-year warranty. Honestly, don't bother hunting for a 24-inch monitor; this 23-inch model feels plenty large enough for me.
