A couple of years back, the crew over at the Desktop PC subforum gave me some great advice on picking out components, and now that I'm back in the market, I figured I'd come back here to pick your brains again.

I'm open to any suggestions, whether it's an online retailer or a local shop—honestly, I don't have a strong preference.

My budget is $2167.
I don't really care about the brand; I've cycled through quite a few different laptops over the years and had solid experiences with all of them, so I'm happy to consider anything.
The main goal is a machine that can handle my everyday essentials, which mostly means heavy web browsing with a mountain of Chrome tabs open at once.
For gaming, I'll just be playing things like League of Legends, CS:GO, or the occasional round of PUBG.

I'm fully aware that we're looking at a laptop here, so I'm expecting something centered around a GTX 1050 in terms of graphics performance.

Battery life isn't my top priority, though it would be nice if I could squeeze in a couple of movies here and there without hunting for a charger.

Having an SSD would be great, but it's definitely not a dealbreaker.

I stumbled upon this specific deal, which runs until October 31st:

Any advice or insight you guys can offer would be much appreciated! 👍

It’s not a bad choice, I suppose, though an 8th gen processor would probably be a better way to go.
For instance, this Dell paired with a newer CPU actually comes with an SSD included.

I actually added that one to my favorites too! I stumbled upon this video today

To be honest, I’ve never really had issues with tech in my life—whenever something did go wrong, it was sorted out in record time (knock on wood). Because of that, I tend to be a bit skeptical when it comes to reviews. Does anyone know if it's possible to add another SSD to the Y520 mentioned above?

Also, these caught my eye

and this one too

Is there a way to check if an SSD upgrade is actually doable?

I’ve managed to bump my budget up to $2333, maybe even an extra $100 or $200 if needed.

I’m really hoping to snag a GTX 1050ti if possible—do you all think it's actually worth paying the premium over the standard GTX 1050? Also, what’s your take on waiting for Black Friday, Cyber Monday, or the holiday season? Do you think I'll be able to find similar deals during those sales, or should I just pull the trigger now?

Out of those three laptops, the Lenovo definitely has the best cooling setup.

You get the 1050Ti plus a 500GB SSD for just $2313.
Heads up though—this deal expires in a day.

I ended up pulling the trigger on an HP Pavilion 15.6" featuring an i5 8300, a GTX 1050ti, 8GB of RAM, a 2TB HDD paired with a 256GB SSD, a 36-month warranty, and it even came with a free carrying case. $2400.

That Lenovo was actually right up there on my shortlist, but I ultimately decided the HP was the better way to go. 😁
