Bumps on breasts

Hi there,

I just noticed something on my left breast—specifically on the areola area,
where there are about six or seven tiny little red spots.
It’s hard to put into words, but it looks like someone took a needle and gave me a few tiny pricks; it looks like there's some blood pooling, but it isn't on the surface of the skin—it's underneath. So, it just looks slightly redder and darker than the rest of the areola itself.

It’s only happening on the left side.
For context, I have really sensitive skin, especially on my breasts. If my bra irritates me even a little bit and I end up scratching, my skin reacts terribly and I get these bumps that feel like subcutaneous fatty deposits.
That said, I don't remember scratching at all recently—the bra I was wearing until just a moment ago wasn't irritating me.
It itches a little bit right now, but honestly, that might just be because I've been touching the area...

I'm pretty scared.
Is there any reason for me to be worried??

Look, if you’ve always had sensitive skin, this could totally be that. Honestly, just try to stay away from those tight, synthetic bras—they’re the worst. Maybe try putting some baby powder on your skin after you shower too; sometimes sweating can trigger a nasty little rash. But besides that, are things feeling normal otherwise? Like, any actual pain or discharge from the nipple? If it’s just those little spots, it’s probably just skin irritation. I'm no doctor, though, so if anyone else has an idea, let us know! No need to freak out! 🙂

I don’t want to freak anyone out—really, I don't—but I just got an email about a specific type of cancer. These were the symptoms listed:

1. Constant redness, oozing, or scabbing on the nipple that leads to a rash and
inflammation (When I dealt with this, I didn't really get a rash
or much inflammation, and there wasn't any discharge—just some scabbing
along the edge of the areola on one side).

2. A sore on the nipple that just won't heal. (Mine was more on the areola, with a sort of whitish
patch right in the center of the nipple).

3. It usually only affects one side.

I have no clue if this is legit or just some random thing—like I said, I just got it in an email from a friend. I'm not sure how many of these match what you're feeling, but maybe it's worth getting checked out just to be safe?

None of those symptoms apply to me (thank God)
except for the fact that it's only on one breast.

These aren't scabs; I can't feel anything under my hand, my finger, or even just pressing down.
I just see these tiny little red dots—barely even pink—right there on the skin.
And honestly, I have a similar red dot on a few other spots on my body too.
I’ve actually had one on my cheek for two or three years now, and that one is even redder than these.

The ones on my breast are sooo faintly red; there's zero discharge, no itching, nothing stinging, and they aren't open wounds—it feels like it's just under the surface or just part of the skin itself, 🙂 so that's my take on it.

It’s almost like a teeny-tiny (maybe the size of a speck or even smaller) little bruise.

I don't have any of the symptoms you guys listed, thank God.

Maybe I just haven't noticed them before and they've been there all along.

Well, you definitely *are* trying to start a panic by posting stuff like this. Just chill out a bit and stop passing along hearsay or whatever it is.🙂

My skin tends to be pretty sensitive, especially on my breasts. If a bra irritates me at all, my skin reacts badly and I get these little bumps under the skin.
But I don't remember scratching lately—the bra I was wearing earlier wasn't irritating me at all.

I'm a little scared.
Is there any reason to worry??

You have absolutely nothing to worry about. I have the exact same thing, and I discovered it totally out of the blue one day. I remember thinking, "Wait, has this always been here or is this new?"

She was asking if anyone knew what it was, and since it seemed somewhat recognizable, I just shared my experience.

Maybe my answer wasn't the most helpful, but saying "it's nothing and I have it too" isn't much better, really. You didn't mention if you actually saw a dermatologist who told you it was nothing, or if you just decided it was fine on your own without any testing?

Based on what she wrote, concluding that it's totally harmless is like me running to the doctor because I lost a single strand of hair!?!

And honestly, what you're saying is so ridiculous I don't even want to get into an argument about it. The worst thing you can do is scare people. A woman is looking for help, and you're out here serving her up a side of "latest cancer scare"????? hello?
