When's the wedding?
We've got The Beatles playing for us. They're incredible, but their schedule is packed...
We actually locked them in yesterday for September 21st, 2013. They only had one weekend left in September, and nothing available before then...

Taylor Kelly2, I was at Target in the mall today looking at wedding figurines $8.25. They have those cute little miniatures for $1.25, plus various other wedding decor at decent prices. I picked up a white heart with a green wreath and white roses, and grabbed three yards of organza in my color for $2.75 (most stores charge about $2.25 per yard) .... yeah
they also have table cards with gold and silver patterns... 20 pieces for $2.75 🙂 something like this

Hey there 🙂... so, I went ahead and booked Eden back in May for July 6th, 2013. Honestly, I’ve heard nothing but glowing reviews about them—both on the forums and just through the grapevine. Not a single bad word. They do two quick breaks, then they just keep playing until everyone has cleared out. Everyone tells me I made a killer choice by going with them, even though my first pick was actually The Dave Brubeck Quartet, but they were already booked solid for the whole month of July. :S Anyway, hope this helps a little bit

I was actually in that area over the weekend and didn't spot them at all 🙂

Thanks!
There's a decent chance that the Eden band will be performing for free.
We should have an answer by Friday! June 8th, 2013, is when the wedding party shows up.

I might have missed this already, but I don't want to scroll through every single thread—could you guys share your experiences with La Sposa in Indianapolis?

Hey guys, I’ve got some fresh intel on my go-to supplier over in Indianapolis. Their warehouse/shop is right by the old Best Buy next to Bill’s, but apparently, the lady running things isn't always on-site. She actually told me I could just give her a ring on her cell—the number is listed on their website—whenever I'm planning to swing by.

I did a deep dive comparing them to General Electric, and man, GE is definitely way more expensive than my buddy's place.

We actually visited them recently. We were seen by an older lady who was incredibly polite, though she took us straight upstairs to the fitting area—they handle all the changing on the upper floor while the ground level is just for greeting you—and then she brought out an absolute mountain of gowns. It was a constant cycle of "try this one on," then "how about this?" She was lovely, really, though I should probably offer a fair warning: she has a massive, almost obsessive passion for lace, so most of what she pulls out will feature plenty of it. 🤣And let me tell you, she isn't shy about voicing her opinion! All in all, though, we had a very positive experience!! 😍

Honestly, that works perfectly for me since I'm really looking for lace. But what’s the deal with renting a dress for the first time? Is there an extra fee or something? I spotted this gorgeous piece from a 2012 collection, but I feel like it might be way too early to reserve it—the wedding isn't for another 14 months. Plus, who knows how many times it'll be worn between now and then, or what kind of condition it'll actually be in...

Just wanted to jump back in on the conversation about the band... we ended up booking The Beatles because we saw them play at a wedding once and they absolutely blew us away!

Look, if this helps anyone out, I stopped by Nicholas's place today. The lady there is incredibly sweet—super chatty, patient, and just genuinely lovely. If you change your mind about your wedding dress, they let you swap it for another one anytime right up until the big day. Their most expensive gown is $1667, and they offer some really solid discounts too. All in all, a great experience.

Quick question—who actually pays for the wedding dress? Is it usually the mother-in-law? That’s how it works back home in the Midwest—friends of mine who did their homework ended up getting cash from their mothers-in-law to cover the rental costs. But my partner’s family is from the Northeast, where brides typically just handle it themselves. It feels a bit awkward to ask for dress money just because that's the tradition in the Midwest.
I brought it up once and my sister-in-law gave me some attitude about it—since I mentioned the Midwest tradition—so I didn't push it, and honestly, I probably won't.

I'd much rather just pick one out myself—or, more likely, just rent something...

Hmm, isn't the groom usually the one who picks up the tab for the wedding dress?

Zelenooka, there are honestly so many different traditions out there... it really just comes down to how each family does things. I’ve even heard stories about mothers-in-law picking out the wedding dress themselves, though it would never cross my mind to actually ask for that kind of help.

formaldehyde, regarding those aunts over at Nikulin, it’s going to be one massive 🙏 ... Personally, I’m one of those people who can't make up her mind because I'm stuck between two totally different vibes, and the aunts were such troopers about it. I actually put down a deposit on two different dresses already, and I'm still sitting here staring at a screen trying to figure out which third option to go with.

Quick question!
Does anyone happen to know any good venues in VK where I could host a big group of guests?

I heard nothing but great things about them too, which is why we hired them. Man, if we get lucky like you did... 🙂 I don't think we'll regret it 🙂

I’m familiar with the tradition where the bride's mother covers the dress, and then the cash collected from the ushers goes directly to her to reimburse the cost...🤷
