Could someone explain what full-spectrum light actually entails? Is it even possible to replicate that effect using standard household light bulbs?
I find that fluorescent lighting is quite harsh on the system and tends to be rather irritating, whereas I am somewhat uncertain about how regular bulbs impact us... Since I spend most of my time studying under artificial light and staying indoors, I am looking for ways to bolster my overall well-being, especially since I have read that sunlight is vital for our immune systems because certain essential chemicals simply aren't released by the brain without it. 🙄

Fluorescent bulbs are terrible for your health and super irritating, and I don't even know what those standard ones do to you. Since I spend my life studying under artificial light indoors, I want to improve my health—apparently, sunlight is vital for your immune system because certain chemicals won't even trigger in the brain without it. 🙄

Basically, unlike your run-of-the-mill bulbs that only hit a tiny slice of the spectrum, these things emit the whole damn range, from infrared all the way up to ultraviolet.
Artists usually swear by them to avoid color distortion when they're painting.
Maybe head down to a local art supply store like Michaels or Blick and ask around.

I heard a rumor that someone over on the forums was having quite a bit of trouble finding what they needed at the local Home Depot...
Does anyone happen to know where I might find a professional art supply store here in NYC?

Where in NYC can I find an art supply shop?

You've got Likum over in the Brooklyn corridor and AGM-art Point over on Gundulić. If they don't have it, they should be able to point you in the right direction.
