So I'm reading up on these new releases, and apparently, the prices here in the States are already higher than what they originally promised?

It’s honestly unbelievable... I see the Sapphire Radeon RX 480 8GB listed on Newegg for just $660., yet here in the States we're being charged $800...👎

Would this actually be a decent upgrade from a GTX 560?
My rig is ancient, so I'm really not looking to dump a ton of cash into it...

Would this be a decent swap for a GTX 560?
The rig is ancient, so I don't want to sink too much cash into it.

It'll work if you just need a picture on the screen. Nothing else.

So, what am I actually looking at here? What should I grab?

And what's the end goal here? Gaming? For what exactly?

Basically... I had an older rig running a GTX 560, so I'm looking for something in that same ballpark.

You aren't going to find anything decent near the $300 mark $133 brand new.

If you aren't actually gaming, just grab the cheapest option available.

If you're strictly capping your GPU budget at $300–$400, you might need to look at an older GTX 460 instead;

If those new NVIDIA GTX 1060s stay as overpriced as they are right now, what older cards should I actually look at instead?

A bit more expensive (or cheaper if you go used), maybe an NVIDIA GTX 970 or an R9 390.

Cheaper options:

@Paul Thompson37/">@@Paul Thompson37 if I were you, I'd just grab that NVIDIA GT 730. You can find a brand new one with a warranty for basically nothing, even if it's way weaker than the 560. If you go used, you're stuck with zero protection, but this way you get a decent card and at least a few months of peace of mind with that warranty.

Case - Cooler Master Scout 2 Advanced
CPU - Intel Core i5-2500K + Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
Asrock 970 extreme4 motherboard.
RAM - G. Skill Ripjaws 2x4 GB 1600 MHz
Seagate 500 GB HDD.
Dell Monitor DVD player.
NVIDIA GTX 970 - XFX Black Edition 4GB
PSU - OCZ ZT Series 550W
Sound — Creative Sound Blaster.
Found this. They’re breaking it down by component. I’m looking at the CPU, the motherboard, and the GPU. What kind of offer should I make?

I wouldn't even bother looking at that CPU or motherboard... I mean, the processor might still be okay, but it'll get totally crushed by that i5 3350P mentioned above, and honestly, the motherboard is just junk.

As for the GPU, maybe $400 if it still has about a year left on the warranty.

I've got an Intel Core i5-4460 sitting here. Is it actually any better than an i5 3350P?

They’re pretty much neck and neck when it comes to gaming and most everyday tasks... I guess the Intel Core i5-4460 is a generation newer, so it might be just a hair faster in certain spots.

You have no idea how much of a joke it is when the cheapest NVIDIA GTX 1060 at Best Buy is 🤣 🤣 🤣
link

That just means all the other "sane" retailers will be charging $2000-$2200 once they finally get them in stock 😬

So you're saying I should definitely pull the trigger on that CPU and motherboard combo? And would that NVIDIA GTX 970 hold its own for things like Call of Duty: Battlefield, Grand Theft Auto V, or playing DayZ online?

Fine, fine. Thanks. I’ve got another one for you. Am I being annoying? Probably. If I want to step up to something slightly better, what CPU and GPU combo should I be looking at?
