Hey everyone, I’m really hoping someone here might be able to share some experience to help ease my mind. I stopped taking my birth control pills back on June 26th, and I did get my period right after, though it only lasted about three days and was incredibly light—just a few drops here and there. We had sex on July 9th, which was actually our first time without any protection, and we did it twice in a row. Since I went through a miscarriage about a year ago, I remember feeling certain I was pregnant because of those specific pre-period sensations—the mild cramping, the jitters, and just that general intuition—and honestly, I’m feeling those exact same things again right now. I can't tell if I'm just overthinking everything 😕
Is it actually possible to get pregnant so soon after stopping the pill? Also, it feels a little strange, but I've had this heavy white discharge for two days now, even though there's no odor at all.

Look, I've known people who were strictly on them—taking every single pill right on schedule—only to miss just one. Just one. And they kept going as if nothing happened, until they realized their stomach was growing and realized they weren't just bloated... so yeah, anything can happen.

Hey, I’m dealing with something similar—my period is over ten days late, but my pregnancy test came back negative. For the last three days, I’ve been running a fever of about 99°F; it wasn't just a slight rise, either, it absolutely wiped me out. I'm exhausted and dealing with nausea too. Given that the test was negative, could this fever be causing the delay, or is it actually a symptom of pregnancy despite the result?
thanks

Just run the test again in two or three days... if you actually are pregnant, I'd imagine it should show up clearly by then.

My test showed a positive after only three days of being late, but if you're more than 10 days out and it's still showing negative, I don't think you're pregnant if it's a negative

Roger Rodriguez said:Look, your period arrived. Regardless of what happened, that’s usually the clearest sign that you aren't pregnant. Between him not finishing and you taking the morning-after pill... isn't it pretty much impossible?

Thanks!!
Is it too early for a test to show a positive if I take it exactly 15 days after having sex?

Hey everyone, I guess I'm joining the ranks of those dealing with issues too 🙂
I have a question—has anyone else dealt with symptoms like mine? My period should arrive around the 27th, and my husband and I have been trying for a baby, so I’m really hoping this is actually happening 🙂 basically... after about two weeks of trying, I started feeling nauseous—maybe an hour a day, lasting for three or four days—though I didn't actually vomit. My sense of smell is just off, much worse than a hunting dog's; I keep picking up scents that no one else notices (for instance, I woke up this morning and the whole apartment smelled like roasted chicken, even though there wasn't any 🤣🤣. Oh, and... I had a low-grade fever between 97.7 and 98.6 for two days. But the absolute worst part is the BACK PAIN—it was so bad last night that it eventually radiated down to my legs, making them feel almost paralyzed from the pain 😠😠
Please let me know if you've experienced anything similar; I'm just counting down the days until my period is late 🤣🤣🤣

velvetgull36, I’m dealing with the exact same symptoms you are. The only difference is my period is about ten days late, and even though I took a test after seven days, it came back negative 🙂... so honestly, all these physical signs might just be nothing at all 🤷

Hold on a second. You said you just started trying this month, for two weeks straight? But you aren't even expecting your period until 13 days from now. You're just barely past your ovulation window; there's no way you'd be feeling this bad from conception already.

That sounds more like you're overdoing the "activity," and those heightened smells and stuff can happen during fertile days too.

The first signs of potential pregnancy usually don't show up until just a few days before your period. You might feel some breast tenderness, but you shouldn't even bother with a test UNTIL around the 27th.

Thirteen days left!!! That is a long time.

My advice? Just relax. Stop stressing out so much. Babies tend to show up when you aren't obsessively thinking about them. Like, you can't force it to happen right now. It'll happen when it's meant to happen.
Good luck. 😉

Yeah, the issue is I've only just reached my fertile window—so I doubt we actually conceived during those earlier, non-fertile days 🙂 but look... a friend of mine saw her OB-GYN and apparently her most fertile days were right before and after her period (which sounds bizarre)—so that’s why I find this whole thing strange. Then again, ovulation cycles vary for everyone—I know some women who even managed to conceive during their period 🤣🤣 I suppose I'll just wait until my period is late and see where we go from there... it's probably mostly just stress, or maybe I'm just overthinking it 😍😍

So, here’s the situation: my partner and I had sex on June 11th and again on June 26th. During one of those times, the condom actually broke, but we caught it immediately and he didn't finish. I took an emergency contraceptive pill about two hours later (took two Plan B doses, 3+3, roughly 12 hours apart). My period came back early on July 3rd—I'm assuming that was just a side effect from the pills. Then, on July 11th, I took a home pregnancy test using my first urine of the morning (a standard HCG test) and it came up negative. That was 15 days after the encounter. I'm wondering what you guys think—did I test too soon, or is there still a chance I could be pregnant?
Thanks in advance!!

Look, if you ask me, it might be best to wait until your period actually arrives. I can't quite recall when you said you were expecting it, but if you test right around the time your cycle starts, you should get a definitive answer.
But honestly, based on everything you've shared, I really don't think you're pregnant.

I’ve read several times that getting pregnant is actually easiest during that very first month after you quit the pill, but does anyone know if that's actually true? 🙂 Of course, it is absolutely possible to conceive, especially if you were using those newer pills with lower hormone doses.

You didn't test too early. Everything looks fine. Of course, there's always a "what if," and everything is out of our hands anyway. But if the test says negative, you're probably in the clear.

Hey everyone, I’m looking for some insight regarding what people call a biochemical pregnancy. If one occurs, during which window is fetal loss most common? Or, looking at it from the other side, if you are already pregnant, when can you feel relatively certain that you aren't facing that risk? I realize this is a broad question, but I’m interested in the statistical likelihood. There has to be data on this. My guess is it happens early on, within those first couple of weeks.
Honestly, I’m constantly surprised by the questions people ask here. It’s a bit much... though I suppose there are plenty of young, inexperienced folks online, which is a whole different conversation. It feels like kids these days think having sex is just their golden ticket into adulthood. But the reality is that being young often means being blissfully unaware of basic biological facts. If they’re going to dive into it, they should at least have the sense to Google some basics first. Sorry for the tangent; it's not the main point, just a bit of context for what I'm about to say. Basically: you can get pregnant even if there's just a little bit of semen near the vaginal opening because sperm are experts at swimming "upstream," moving at speeds of about 25 miles/h. So, don't bother with the "washing it out" method or assuming you're safe just because things leaked out after you stood up. By then, they've already started their mission. 🙂
Anyway, I'll be waiting for some info on the biochemical pregnancy aspect.

From what I understand about biochemical pregnancies, we’re talking about an extremely early miscarriage—basically when the egg is fertilized but fails to implant. It's clearly happening within those first few weeks. At what point can a woman finally breathe a sigh of relief regarding the risk of loss? I'd imagine the first trimester is the most critical window. 🤷

Hey ladies
Not sure where else to drop this, so I'll just throw it out here. 🙂
My period is late, so if it doesn't show up soon, I'm grabbing a test; but I’ve got a question (mostly because I'd rather win the Powerball than deal with this right now 😁)... how many of you ended up pregnant while using the "pull out" method? Lately, my guy and I have been doing that—usually pulling out right before putting on a condom... I'm curious about the actual math behind it (since theoretical probability is a thing) and whether I'm actually in trouble. I feel like I read somewhere that the odds of getting pregnant this way are pretty slim.
Anyway. If there's a better thread for this kind of stuff, let me know. 🙂

Nothing... 😢

and honestly, I’m kicking myself for testing right on the day my period was due...

I totally let myself get swept up in the idea of us having a baby. Even though I knew deep down it was way too early and could go south any second—plus, it was basically our first shot at it...
And I've never really been into the whole pregnancy thing. You could even say I wasn't interested at all. But man, this hurts. It's hard to believe. 🤷

Just feeling pretty down.

But whatever...

Next time, I'm waiting until I'm at least 10 days late before I even look at a test. We'll just get serious about it and hopefully, we'll see that plus sign soon enough.

Sorry for the vent...

I honestly have no clue how you ended up with two pluses there. It makes zero sense to me... 🤷
