HDMI splitter recommendations?

My TV only features a single HDMI port—but I need to connect both my cable receiver and an Apple TV.
Would a basic, passive HDMI splitter be sufficient for this setup?

I don't think so. Do you have any other input ports on the TV? Maybe a DVI or an HDMI port? Honestly, I’d just track down a DVI-to-HDMI adapter or whatever else you can find lying around. Just double-check whether you need a male or female connector so you don't end up with a useless piece of plastic.

Up until about a year ago, I was rocking one of those 3-in-1 HDMI switches with a remote—used it to swap between my receiver, the DVD player, and my laptop.

I’d just use the remote to pick which input I wanted to see, and most of the time it worked fine, but man... it would glitch out sometimes. It wouldn't switch to the right device, so I'd have to unplug everything and plug it back in just to get it working again for maybe two weeks at a time...
I can't recall the specific model right now, but I grabbed it off Amazon, so the build quality was always a bit sketchy to begin with.
