How does one go about registering for the Verified by Google service at JP Morgan Chase if I don't have online banking access—specifically, if I'm lacking a card reader or a security token?

Alright, here’s the situation. I’ve got a Chase College Checking account, and they handed me two Intel cards—one for my domestic account and one for foreign currency—plus a Maestro card linked to my checking. Now, I’m trying to pick up some things online, but every time I try using that Maestro card, the transaction gets rejected on PayPal. I was under the impression that the whole point of having a Maestro card was to make online shopping seamless, so why isn't this working? Am I stuck just using the foreign currency Intel card if I want to get anything done?

I guess if you don't have online banking set up yet—like, maybe you haven't even gotten a card reader or a security token—you might want to check in with JP Morgan Chase about how to get Verified by Google enabled. I suppose they could probably help you get everything sorted out since you aren't using their digital tools just yet.

Do you happen to have that customer number they sent over along with your PIN?
So, I guess you might need to make a quick purchase online using your card instead of PayPal, and then it looks like they'll ask you to register and maybe change that number into one of your own?
I guess the process might be pretty much the same with Verified by Google, regardless of which bank actually issued your card.

You don't actually pay for the debit cards themselves; you're just paying the monthly maintenance fees on the accounts they're linked to.

I have a quick question regarding the mechanics: if I deposit a certain amount of USD into that account, will I be able to make payments through PayPal using dollars? 🤔

Well, if you’re making a deposit using U.S. dollars into your account—say, through a Chase branch—the bank will simply handle the conversion into whatever currency you hold, effectively landing those dollars right in your balance.

That being said, you can also just use your standard checking account to make purchases via PayPal; it’s perfectly doable, though you should keep in mind that they’ll likely apply a slightly less favorable exchange rate during the process.

You could just open a Chase account, and then on PayPal, you can set it up to use the bank's exchange rate instead of theirs. Theirs is barely worse, but still...

Log into your online banking, hit the "Payments" tab, set up a new recipient, and then select "internal transfer."

If you don't have your PIN handy, forget about buying anything at the register. It’s just not going to happen.

I called up a card processing service today to ask a few things. Specifically, I wanted to know if it’s possible to make deposits via Skrill or Neteller. I mentioned that my account is currently empty, so I can't really test it out using my Microsoft card from JPMorgan Chase—especially since they wouldn't accept their Visa cards in the past—so I was just asking for information. He told me that, as far as he knows, people deposit there without any issues. Now, I don't want to waste money just to test it out, so does anyone here have firsthand experience? Is depositing through them actually reliable? When I went to the branch, the teller told me that ever since they introduced IBAN, everything has been working fine enough for her knowledge.•

Honestly, you really shouldn't be getting rejected on PayPal. It works perfectly fine for me—I just use PayPal or my Visa debit card from JPMorgan Chase.

Yes, I sorted it out. It turns out I just didn't have enough funds in my account, which is why it was declined. Everything is fine now. Finally, everything is running smoothly, and my Microsoft card from JPMorgan Chase is working for all my online transactions. It was about time, wasn't it? 🙂

So, I fell for this online "e-book" scam. The website made it look legit, promising a money-back guarantee if you didn't like the content. It was pitched as some clever way to make extra cash online, and honestly? I was foolish enough to take the bait.

It wasn't a huge amount, maybe $10 ($27), but still. The entire PDF is basically just one single page telling you to put their book in your signature and start reselling it. That’s it.

The worst part? The forum thread where I bought it is over 150 pages long, and people are buying this junk like crazy. I tried messaging the seller for a refund, but then I stumbled upon another thread where someone else already complained about never getting their money back.

I really want to file a chargeback, but I have no clue how to go about it. Usually, I just handle everything through PayPal, so I'm a bit lost here.😁
