Honestly, this just looks like your run-of-the-mill, totally predictable Oscar bait boredom to me.

The casting is a complete disaster. There isn't a trace of Jackie Kennedy's facial features, her cold expression, or that self-assured, resolute composure she carried herself with.



Natalie Portman just has a baby face; she comes across as a girl no matter what she tries to pull off, especially when she's forced to pout. It irritates me when these Hollywood starlets think they can just transform into anyone. You can't. Most of you are only here because you messed up with the wrong people or because you have deep-seated family or religious connections.

A few chameleons like Meryl Streep or Cate Blanchett can actually disappear into any role, but everyone else is usually pretty limited in their range.

It’s the same way Angelina Jolie hyped herself up thinking she could play Cleopatra. 🤣 Fortunately, that was stopped in time.

Caught the trailer at AMC Theatres yesterday, and man, it hit me with a massive wave of secondhand embarrassment.
It’s pathetic—all that reciting about Camelot and that accent she’s using. Natalie Portman totally missed the mark here, and every single scene just screams, "this is a movie designed to chase an Oscar."

To me, Jackie wasn't even particularly beautiful—not in the traditional sense, anyway—she was more of an icon because of her style and that certain aristocratic poise... Natalie is better looking (at least in my eyes), but she’s a miss here; the actress doesn't actually resemble the real woman at all, plus Portman is just a fairly mediocre performer whose face seems stuck in this weird half-grimace between laughing and crying in every single movie. And the movie is your typical Oscar bait—the kind designed to snag a nomination in one major category and a bunch of technical ones just so the lead can walk away with the award.

maybe she’ll get lucky this time too and walk away with a statue while rocking a baby bump... assuming she doesn't go into labor before then...

It looks like history is repeating itself. In a field of relatively weak competition, a hardworking but mediocre Natalie Portman manages to snag festival awards for her performance in Jackie. She’s already started picking them up at the Choice Awards, which is just pathetic. In the end, actual heavyweights get overlooked while mediocre actors like this walk away with the hardware.

I think it’s a solid movie, but honestly, it’s one of those I probably won't revisit
Some people might find the visuals a bit dull, but I actually loved how much they focused on close-ups; it gave the whole thing this really intimate, documentary-style feel

Without a doubt, my favorite parts were the scenes between Natalie Portman and John Hurt 👍

Personally, based on the trailer, this is exactly what I was anticipating. This isn't some idealized biopic about Jackie being the media darling or the beloved icon everyone remembers from her time as First Lady; instead, it’s a raw look at the total collapse following the tragedy. That specific fragment of her life is portrayed precisely how it should be... heavy, gut-wrenching, and deeply moving.

I completely agree with everything said.

Even though I've sat through a mountain of documentaries about JFK and everything surrounding him, I still can't quite wrap my head around how good her performance actually is... I suppose I’d need to be a true American to really feel the weight of it.
On IMDb, you see some people claiming Portman is absolutely brilliant, while others are just tearing her apart, calling it a disaster.

The truth is, the USA basically started splintering right after those events unfolded.

The movie is solid enough; honestly, I have no idea what people were even expecting from a subject like this.

Good movie, and Natalie Portman is great. As someone who considers themselves an average fan of Jacqueline Kennedy’s life and legacy, I can't really walk away with a definitive take on her character—but maybe that was the whole point. Was she just a woman unlucky enough to be in love with a guy who couldn't keep it in his pants, only for him to die in her arms and leave her in a fog? Or was she like him—part of a massive ego trip, convinced she could turn the presidential family into American royalty? Maybe she's just mourning the fact that the dream died, leaving behind nothing but the memory of a funeral bigger than Abraham Lincoln's and the fact that she had impeccable style. Or maybe it's a mix of both.
It actually lets you sit with her as a real person for a moment, which I think is a definite win after watching.
The soundtrack is interesting, and I liked how the direction blended interviews, confessions from the clergy, and flashbacks. It doesn't drag, even though there isn't actually much "happening" in terms of plot.

Solid 8/10.

The trailer for this movie sounded absolutely terrible to me—just a total mess—so I decided to dive into some actual interviews with the real Jackie Kennedy instead. Honestly? I was pretty blindsided by how forced and just... weird she seemed. Especially in those early appearances right when Kennedy first became President. It’s a lot to take in...

There were moments in the movie where I honestly couldn't tell if it was Natalie Portman or Jackie Kennedy speaking...
The movements just didn't land for me. And honestly? I couldn't even get into the whole vibe of Jackie as First Lady... it just didn't click.

As for everything else... total flop. 👎👎👎
I honestly feel like the director just forgot that—even if you have one central character everything revolves around—a movie actually needs a plot and some kind of flow... and this one? It’s got absolutely none.
The scenes just jump around completely randomly and without any sense... It’s all honestly just exhausting and boring.

Actually, now that I'm sitting here typing this, it just hit me—there's another heavy moment in the movie that really sticks with you... specifically the part where Kennedy is assassinated.
It looks like they nailed the portrayal—it feels pretty spot on to me...
There’s just something hauntingly incredible about how that woman carried herself through all of it. Like, how she just stepped up to that car without even a second thought—just to reach for a piece of his skull—then calmly rested her hands on his head and made the call to stay in that blood-stained suit until the next day... just so the entire world could see his blood on her. It's wild...
When Lyndon B. Johnson took the oath of office and they practically begged her to change outfits—since the cameras were going to be all over her—she just flat-out refused, telling them...
Oh, please... I actually want them to face what they did to John.
Later on, when they asked if she regretted not stripping off the costume, she just said her only real regret was washing the blood off her face before they filmed her swearing in with Lyndon B. Johnson...

I’m just so bummed that nobody seems to be able to pull off a truly gripping, high-quality movie about the Kennedys. That era alone was fascinating enough—and she, despite everything, was such a compelling figure... she really deserves a much better portrayal than this one. 🍿

This movie just gives me the chills... I honestly think Natalie Portman is the absolute reason this role works so well.
