Jeans recommendations?

Does anyone actually shop in New York? I picked up some jeans there and they’re bunching up like crazy around my knees... they're that FB Sisters model, size 25... what on earth is causing them to bunch up like that?

Does anyone have some firsthand advice on growing into a pair of skinny jeans? I picked up some stretch denim today at Diesel—they’re those Jogg Jeans style with plenty of elastane—but I grabbed one size smaller than my usual. They were on sale, and my actual size was out of stock, so I figured why not? Now, they fit okay, but not quite right either. If they were just one centimeter more forgiving, they would be absolutely perfect... 🤔

If you want budget options, some of the Levi's selvedge lines or Carhartt are solid choices.

At the absolute bottom of the price scale, maybe Uniqlo has something worth wearing.

When it comes to denim, the golden rule is to never wash them. In their entire lifespan, these pants shouldn't see a washing machine more than two or three times—and only if they are genuinely filthy or soiled.
Washing kills the fabric, and that is where everyone goes wrong.

If they start to smell, just spray them with some alcohol and toss them in the freezer for a few days
to kill off the bacteria.

The reality is that studies have shown there is no more bacteria on denim that hasn't been washed in five years compared to denim washed five days ago.
The indigo used to dye the cotton acts as an antibacterial agent against odors; it's no wonder denim was the go-to workwear for American laborers and farmers.

The issue is that the cheap fashion jeans sold at places like Kohl's aren't dyed with natural indigo, except for a few specific Levi's or Carhartt models—and even then, you have to wonder if those big retailers are actually maintaining those standards.

Regardless of the cause, I just want to know how to reinforce that spot beforehand to prevent future issues. Would it work to just glue a patch of denim or leather on the inside? If so, what kind of adhesive should I use so there's no discoloration on the outside and the glue doesn't ruin the fabric?

Has anyone here perhaps worn anything from the Kenny S collection over at Center Stores? I spotted some rather sharp-looking trousers—truly stylish—but I’m feeling a bit uncertain regarding their actual durability and quality.

Furthermore—and this is a bit of an odd one—does anyone know about that strange, somewhat unpleasant scent that denim can sometimes develop? It’s that lingering smell that just won't wash out, no matter how hard you try. What on earth could it be? 🙂 It doesn't quite strike me as that typical chemical odor—you know, the one involving formaldehyde or dyes that often wafts off new garments when they get damp. No, this specific aroma is something I have only ever encountered with denim.

That’s German engineering for you. It’s built to last, unlike that disposable fast fashion garbage. Just watch out with the sizing; I can't recall the exact specs, but I'm fairly certain they run large.

I know that specific denim stench all too well. I send those back every single time. Experience tells me there's no amount of washing that can ever scrub it out.

Listen, Salsa, if you’re looking for salsa in Europe, you’ve got plenty of options. You can hunt it down in person, or just hit up one of those countless websites to order it cheaper. It’s all there.
