You could always head to an urgent care clinic or perhaps the after-hours facility at a local community health center—though keep in mind those weekend options are a bit more limited. I know of a couple near the downtown area and another toward the suburbs, but you really ought to call ahead for the others just to be safe; there is nothing worse than driving all over town only to find the doors locked, wouldn't you agree?
Alternatively, you might consider finding a physician who is currently accepting new patients. Once you connect with them, they’ll provide you with the necessary paperwork to fill out, which you then take down to the local Social Security or Medicare office—well, the equivalent insurance agency here—to get everything processed. They will handle the official filings, and you'll end up with copies: one to hand over to your new doctor and another for your previous one to facilitate the transfer of your medical records—unless, of course, they coordinate that behind the scenes. Personally, I live in Washington, D.C., yet I don't actually have my primary residence registered here, and I managed to successfully switch over to a new doctor without much fuss. That said, I suspect you can't just swap doctors on a whim every other week; there is likely some rule requiring a full year to pass between changes. If you need to move sooner than that, your best bet is to check with the insurance office—they might allow an exception if you simply cite a change of address as the reason.
If this is where you live and work, my advice would be to simply settle in with the new doctor and stay put; you never truly know when you might need reliable medical coverage again, do you?
