I'm on the hunt for a solid pediatric dentist—ideally a woman, if possible—around the east side of Chicago. Somewhere near the Suburban City area would be perfect, but I'm not strictly tied to that. Our previous dentist moved away and lost her Medicare coverage, so we're back to square one. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance!

I am kindly seeking recommendations for a good, gentle dentist who accepts Medicare patients in the greater Washington, D.C. area. This is becoming quite urgent. Thank you.

Hi there. I actually started a thread about HPV earlier because I was worried I might have it. I went to see my primary care doctor, and after she checked me out, she gave me a referral for a dermatologist. But she warned me not to try going to a major hospital like Mayo Clinic or a big university center because the wait times are insane. She suggested looking into some local community clinics instead. I tried a couple, but they wouldn't see me and just sent me right back to the main hospital system.

Does anyone here have experience seeing a dermatologist through those smaller clinics? What's the actual process for booking an appointment?
OR
Someone mentioned that I might be able to go to a student health clinic to get some tests done. Does anyone have any useful advice on that? I would be incredibly grateful for any help.

Thanks.

By the way, the clinic is located very close to the Ford factory.

Good day to everyone,
Yesterday, I took my nine-year-old son to his dentist. Since we go through Medicare, it is supposed to be covered, so there shouldn't have been a charge. He has been treating the boy for three months now—seeing us once a month—and he had to give him injections twice. Yesterday, he finally put in a filling. I requested a white one, AND I PAID FOR EVERYTHING $67. I understand that white fillings cost extra and that injections are charged per dose, which is $10, but then where did $67 come from? This seems terrible. Does anyone know who I can report this to, or who I can complain to?

I get that there's an extra charge for cosmetic white fillings and that injections might be billed per use, which is $10, but where on earth does $67 come from? It feels wrong. Does anyone know who I can report this to or where I can file a complaint?

Well, he’s been in treatment for three whole months, seeing them once a month, and they had to give him two injections. Yesterday they finally put in a filling. I asked for the white ones, and I ended up paying FOR EVERYTHING $67. Look, I get that white fillings cost extra and you pay per injection, which is $10, but where on earth does the rest of the charge come from $67? This is insane! Who do I even report this to? Who can I complain to about this mess?

Just checking. So you mean $67? Two hundred bucks? You got an itemized receipt, didn't you?

Does anyone have a recommendation for a gynecologist in Washington, D.C.? Ideally looking for a woman who's actually taking new patients right now...

The ENT clinic over on Vinogradska is actually quite excellent.

I would definitely suggest seeing Dr. Baudoin, though I suppose the rest of the staff there is pretty decent as well...

You go to a clinic in Brooklyn or somewhere similar—I know that much for certain, and likely others too—walk into the office, hand over your referral, and wait for your exam. Why on earth wouldn't they take you in?

Anyone got a solid gastro recommendation? I tried booking through Mercury but they aren't taking appointments right now, and the clinics over in Brooklyn and the outskirts aren't even picking up the phone. I already faxed over my referral and all my info, but honestly, things are a little tight with money right now so I really need to find someone covered by Medicare...

Hi there.

I’m referring to St. Patrick's Cathedral—specifically their department for gastroenterology and hepatology acting as a CDC referral center for GI functional disorders.

That said, I’m not really happy with the feedback I've received regarding a pretty complex case involving gastrointestinal issues.

Does anyone know which other department or hospital within the Medicare system stays current with modern trends and the latest diagnostic or therapeutic procedures for the GI tract?

Well, I guess the Mayo Clinic has a solid gastro department, and honestly, the facilities over in Brooklyn are decent enough too, though I suppose Mercy Hospital is just sort of mediocre...

I have a quick question here:

Has anyone actually sat in the chair with Dr. Primorac (the dentist) over in that small town in Ohio?
I’m talking about someone who’s had crowns or bridges done—I want the real scoop on the quality of the work, the actual costs, and everything else that matters.

Thanks.

Hello to all my fellow forum members 😛. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a urologist for me—specifically someone working within the public health system in a city like Phoenix rather than a private practice. Also, if you happen to know, does anyone have an idea of their schedule? I'm trying to figure out when they might start their summer vacation and roughly how long the waitlist is right now. Thanks!

hollowlynx6 said:Well, I was at the start of the post, Washington, D.C. 🙂

Anyway, I called up after getting a few recommendations for Dr. Željka Lovrić’s office over on Fifth Avenue. People were raving about her, calling her the go-to spot for anyone terrified of the dentist.
Since she runs a private practice but still takes Medicare, how does the billing actually work? Like, what kind of prices are we looking at? For example, white fillings and stuff like that...?

Thanks to all you kind souls for the info. 🙂

My experience with her was just awful—she's a total fraud looking for a quick buck. But the real kicker is how she plays this super-extra-slimy nice persona. Whenever they're doing something covered by Medicare, her assistants handle it. But the second something requires out-of-pocket payment, she steps in herself. Her equipment looks like it hasn't been updated since the 80s, which is ridiculous considering what she charges. She’ll constantly tell you she’ll let you know when there’s an extra cost... then she waits until the very last second, once everything is already installed, to drop the price bomb on you $400 (on other sites, people say it's 200 or 300—specifically for a metal buildup) plus a ceramic crown is 1600 (that part seems fine). And then she'll look you straight in the eye and lie, claiming she told you everything upfront when she absolutely didn't. Oh, and to top it off, my tooth still hurts from the work they did, and I've been dragging my feet for almost two years trying to find a new dentist because I'm too scared of running into more scammers like her. She isn't physically violent, but she's definitely a con artist.

I'm on the hunt for a dentist in Washington, D.C. who actually accepts Medicare. I need someone who knows what they're doing—you know, a real professional, not some hack just looking to butcher my mouth. I can't deal with any scammers out there trying to bleed me dry, and I definitely don't want someone who gets stingy when it comes to using enough anesthesia. Does anyone actually know someone decent?? 😢 My tooth is killing me...

Honestly, if you're relying on Medicare, don't expect to find a decent dentist anytime soon. It feels like we're all being forced to go private just to get actual quality care, but let's be real—that requires cash, and in this economy? Hardly anyone has enough left over after paying for the absolute essentials.
