mistyjackal842 said:Could someone please recommend a reliable private ENT specialist? I need help with my ear, assuming I can't resolve the issue through a simple ear irrigation performed by my primary care physician. My only request is that they aren't located over on Vinogradska Street.

Prof. Boris Pegan maintains a private practice and is a top-tier expert.🙂
Even though I personally tend to avoid the area around Vinogradska, I have yet to find anyone better than the recommendation I received from a colleague regarding an ENT resident, Alan Pegan. He went above and beyond to diagnose and ultimately resolve my issue—something several highly respected specialists failed to achieve over a period exceeding two years.

The only thing I can really help you with is finding a private OB-GYN. I haven't actually gone myself, but a close friend of mine has. She saw this wonderful doctor, Dr. Danak Mirić Tešanić, who recently opened a private practice over on Tomašić Street in Chicago. She’s incredibly experienced—actually, she managed to catch a pregnancy complication for my friend that another private doctor had completely missed, even though that doctor kept insisting everything was perfectly fine. My only heads-up is that the exams are pretty pricey. I think she mentioned $200 for a full checkup including a Pap smear and an ultrasound. Honestly, she seems like a great, highly skilled, and kind physician. Just a heads-up though, they don't take credit cards, so you'll need to have cash ready.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a decent GP over in the eastern part of Chicago—maybe around the Dugave or Travno areas? I'm looking for someone who isn't going to be a total headache about issuing referrals and stuff like that... maybe just a doctor who actually listens, I guess.
thanks

Hey there.

I'm looking for a decent general practitioner over in Indianapolis.

The main thing is that they actually need to be good, and ideally, they have some kind of appointment system. I can't deal with that whole "first come, first served" chaos where you just show up at the door and find ten people already standing there waiting.

Just to be clear: I’m switching away from Albina Dumić. She isn't great as a doctor—she either gives me the wrong referrals or messes up my prescriptions, and honestly, I barely even go to the doctor. Plus, the wait times are just endless.

TOTAL NIGHTMARE!!!

So, I'm asking for recommendations. As you can probably tell, I just walked out of her office after waiting for an hour, and I still hadn't even been seen because I have to get to work. Her sign says she starts at 7:00, so I asked the nurse if it was even worth staying since I start my shift at 8:00, and she just told me to keep waiting. It was 7:55 and she hadn't seen a single patient. Then, of course, someone who clearly cut the line just waltzed right in and she saw them instead.

Man, what a headache.

If I recall correctly, Dr. Bell is still seeing patients over in the Queens area. However, you should probably double-check the women's health thread—specifically the one for Washington, D.C. gynecologists covered by Medicare. It should have a contact number listed there.

Does anyone here have firsthand experience with Dr. Ćuruvija Opačić or the Opto Center? I am currently narrowing down my search for an ophthalmologist, and these two are my top contenders at the moment.

I visited the Opto Center about three years ago. Dr. L. is actually really great. I felt like I could ask just about anything, and he was always incredibly kind and patient with me. Plus, the whole exam felt very thorough. I’d definitely recommend him.

I need to run some tests regarding an allergy to a specific dental anesthetic. I’m facing wisdom tooth extractions soon, and I've had some pretty bizarre reactions to anesthesia in the past. My dentist provided me with the name of the specific anesthetic she uses, but I haven't been able to find a private clinic that offers this kind of specialized testing. The local medical center in Rijeka does general testing for various types of anesthesia, but they aren't accepting outpatient appointments right now because the strike is still ongoing.

Is there anywhere in the US—or maybe even in Canada—that someone could actually perform this testing??

Kimberly Ward said:Look, I know you lost your mom, and I totally get why you're pissed off—my heart goes out to you, truly. But honestly, right in the middle of this strike, I ended up stuck at the local hospital—you know, the one everyone calls "The Infection Ward." They didn't even run half the tests they usually do. I spent a solid two hours just sitting there waiting (not that I'm surprised, I'm used to the wait), and they didn't even bother with blood work or urine samples. They did a quick check because they weren't sure if it was an allergy or some infection, but that was basically it. No labs, nothing.
Of course, this all went down over the weekend. Things actually went smoother when I finally saw my GP on Monday, though it probably would’ve been better if I’d just gone to the urgent care clinic instead.
Also, a colleague of mine was at Petrov's earlier, trying to drop something off—not sure what, maybe a referral or a prescription—and he had to wait an entire hour just to hand over a single piece of paper because they were moving at a snail's pace this morning.
I'm not making excuses for them, believe me, because I've dealt with the mess caused by this strike firsthand, but if it isn't a life-or-death emergency, just go to the urgent care centers.

And to add to that: even with the strike going on, I still got admitted and processed.

I don't believe he does private practice—it seems he's strictly at the Rib—but you can find his contact info listed right on his own website here: http://www.stancic.eu/marin/hr/curriculum.html

Dr. Vlatka Topolovec Nižetić in Utrina. Personally, she’s excellent.

Hey everyone 🙂
I’m looking to get some immunology testing done—specifically AGLM, LKM, AMHA, and ALFA-1-AT. It looks like I won't even be seen at Rib until March. Does anyone happen to know which hospitals handle these specific tests, and if it's possible to just go through a private clinic instead? If so, where should I look and what kind of damage am I looking at cost-wise? hvala in advance 🙂

If you're looking for private options, maybe check out the Breyer private lab over on Broadway near Črnomerec. Honestly, they seem to be the best private lab around, probably quite a bit better than Salzer. They have their own website too, so you could just head there and look up whatever specific info you need.

Yeah, and the Stela lab is over in Queens—not sure where else they have branches in the city.
They’re super friendly and fast, too. Plus, they aren't pricey; they always seem to have some kind of deal going on.😍

mistyjackal842 and Chris Cruz8, I did some digging on Google regarding those clinics. None of them actually list those specific tests in their online service menus. It makes me think they probably have to order special reagents just to run them, which would explain why everything takes so long. I’ll give them a call directly to double-check. Thanks a million! 🙂

I am looking for recommendations for a doctor or a clinic in Indianapolis specializing in liver issues. I need to schedule both a basic checkup and a specialist consultation, and I will likely require a biopsy as well.
