I'm looking for:

a urologist - based in Chicago, specifically the absolute best ones working out of a major hospital system like the Mayo Clinic (maybe Chicago General or similar) because I need to deal with a varicocele that I'm planning to have operated on.

(Just a quick question about the surgeon - I'm actually not sure if urologists handle varicocele surgeries themselves or if that falls under a different surgical specialty.)

Also, an orthopedist - again, in Chicago. I'm looking for two or three top-tier specialists for scoliosis. (I already have Dr. Kovac on my radar, but I'd love one or two more solid names to check out.)

That's it! Thanks so much for any help. 👍

LuckyDay As stated by:
Has anyone here had any experiences working with private orthopedists?

Back in April, my son suffered an injury during sports where his medial epicondyle actually detached from the bone in his elbow. To put it in layman's terms, that’s the bony protrusion where the tendons responsible for rotating the hand left and right attach. We went to the hospital that very same day, only to be seen by some specialist orthopedic surgeon who essentially dismissed us. He put his arm in a cast for two weeks and insisted everything was perfectly fine and there was nothing to worry about. Of course, since then, nothing has been fine. We have cycled through several different specialists covered by Medicare—orthopedists and physiotherapists—and every single one of them seems to have a completely different theory. One tells us, "He should have had surgery immediately." Another claims, "All he needed was a tiny screw and it would have been fixed," while someone else just shrugs and says, "Well, it's done now, what's done is done." Some even suggest he can go right back to playing handball, while others tell him he needs to say goodbye to the sport forever. Meanwhile, my fifteen-year-old kid can't even manage two pull-ups on the gym bars without experiencing sharp pain in his elbow.
If I try to go through Medicare at the Salat clinic, I'm looking at waiting until March 2010 just to get an appointment. I’ve been considering going privately instead, but honestly, I have no idea where the best place would be. From what I’ve heard, the private sector is a complete mixed bag. You have some top-tier facilities with excellent service and fair pricing, but then you have those other places that are cheap simply because they rush you through—I'm talking about a consultation that lasts barely six minutes. $200).
If anyone has any personal experience to share, I would sincerely appreciate your recommendations. Does anyone happen to know anything about the Acromion facility in Krap Spa? Thank you.

I hope I can be of some assistance.
The orthopedic specialists and physical therapists at the M. M. Clinic, located over at Fishpond 6 in Chicago, are truly exceptional.
Examination. $133It takes quite a while, but they always provide an abundance of advice and offer excellent pricing on their therapies. I am very satisfied.

First off, if anyone is looking for a gynecologist, I highly recommend Dr. Martin Sigmund at Borovje DZ. She’s lovely—really patient and gentle—and her nurse is wonderful too. The clinic itself is brand new, so it isn't crowded and you won't be waiting forever.
Secondly, could someone please give me a recommendation for a primary care physician in the Spanish District or somewhere nearby? Thanks so much!

I went to sign up with Dr. Sigmund today, and honestly, the nurse caught me completely off guard in the worst way. I’m hoping the doctor herself is actually good—since I hear nothing but praise for her—but since the nurse seems to handle everything (unfortunately), I have to ask: has anyone else had an unpleasant encounter with her, or did I just catch her on a bad day? I believe her name is Djurdjica Tabek.

I signed up one day myself. The woman was actually quite kind.🙂

I'm looking for a general practitioner covered by Medicare in the Salat area of NYC. If anyone could recommend someone—I hear there are supposedly several options, though from what I can tell, they all seem to be private practices—and provide an address or phone number right away, I’d appreciate it. Thanks. 🙂

Hello everyone. I have put in quite a bit of effort searching, but since I couldn't find anything remotely similar on this forum, I felt compelled to start my very first thread. 🙂
My mother has tasked me with finding a reputable private clinic in Chicago for eyelid surgery, and I am wondering if anyone here has undergone such a procedure or knows someone who has, and what their experiences were like. Alternatively, perhaps you have had different surgeries performed there; I am interested in the doctors' professionalism, their bedside manner, and, most importantly, the final results. A few years ago, she went to a hospital using her Medicare referral to have excess skin removed from her eyelids, but they did an absolutely terrible job...

And yes, you can just send me a private message if you want to avoid making this look like an advertisement.🙂

Has anyone here actually dealt with dentist Francisca? Her rates are pretty steep, and I haven't heard a single thing about her reputation. Does the quality actually live up to that price tag? 🙂

I’d also really appreciate it if someone would actually step up and share what they went through with us 😢

And honestly, would you even consider going through with it? I've been looking at prices, and they range from $7,000... $3333 depending on whether they're just treating wrinkles or actually removing fat, and most importantly, it has to be done under local anesthesia because my mother absolutely refuses anything involving general anesthesia

The thread about eyelid surgery was moved to the wrong spot entirely—seriously? Anyway, I'm super interested in this and have been doing a ton of reading lately. Honestly, though, nothing beats hearing about someone's actual experience firsthand.

Honestly, I don't get how nose jobs and gallbladder surgeries can even be discussed in the same space, and here I am looking for a doctor, though I'll stop complaining before I get banned again. Basically, all I can tell you is that doing it privately is worth it; those eyelids can sag so badly that keeping your eyes open becomes a struggle, and once it's done, you have peace of mind for a long time. However, relying on Medicare is a huge risk because you just don't know what the outcome will be. If I find out anything else in the meantime, I'll post it here, although I doubt anyone with actual insight into this topic is going to bother visiting this specific sub-forum, so I'll likely have to check other American forums instead.😢

Anyway, I’m just trying to find a doctor myself, and I’ll try to keep the complaining to a minimum so I don't get banned again—seriously. But listen, regarding what you asked, my take is that you should go local. It’s actually worth it because those eyelids can sag so badly that it becomes a literal struggle just to keep your eyes open. Once you finally get it done, you'll have peace of mind for a long time. But trying to do this through Medicare? That's a huge gamble. You have no idea how things might end up if you rely solely on a referral. If I stumble upon anything useful in the meantime, I'll post it here. Though, let's be real—I highly doubt anyone who actually knows anything about this topic is going to bother showing up on this specific sub-forum. I'll probably have to go hunting on some other boards. 😢

Maybe you should head over to the WOMEN'S CORNER instead? Seriously—there’s actually a thread dedicated entirely to silicone implants, plus a ton of women there talking about eyelid surgery. It's not just about medical necessity anymore; plenty of ladies are getting it done just to look younger. Why not check that out?😉

Is there anyone here from the Karlovac area who knows a solid dentist that takes Medicare? My regular guy just retired right when I signed my girls up with him. They’re still little, so I really want to find someone reliable who won't mess up their teeth down the road.

Here’s the latest off-topic update: I opened that thread for her for the first time, but then they moved it over to the health section...

Dr. Vidonic has a practice over in Grabrik, and I’ve been seeing him for about 20 years now. Honestly, I’ve been incredibly happy with his work so far, though I’m not entirely sure if he’s even taking on new patients—his schedule seems to be absolutely packed.

What can we say about Dr. Radosh, Dr. Azinovic, and Dr. Flegar? They all maintain their own websites.
