I honestly have no clue, considering I already paid him back on Thursday. πŸ˜• Besides, what am I even supposed to use as an excuse if they've already scrapped it?

I was wondering, how exactly does one find out when a package has finally arrived at their doorstep? Does the USPS mail carrier leave some kind of official notice behind, which I then have to take down to the local branch to pick everything up, or is there some other process involved in all this...

Yeah, usually takes about 3-4 days from shipping. If you aren't home, they'll leave a notice in your mailbox or tucked in your door. Just take that slip and your ID down to the USPS office. Better to go sooner rather than later, unless you want it sent right back to the sender after a few days.

Melissa Morgan77 said:But surely there’s somewhere in a college dorm where you can pick up mail? Like, if we're talking packages, wouldn't they go to the front desk since they won't fit in the little mailboxes? So, I'll just include the dorm name, the building, and my room number in the address...
I'm asking because this girl is claiming they can't receive anything except letters?πŸ˜•

Usually, the front desk handles all the deliveriesβ€”letters, obviously, but also packages.
Every building and every room has its own mailbox, so any package should technically be able to get there.
If it's certified mail, the desk attendant usually keeps it, or they might put a list on the bulletin board showing who has something waiting.
Sometimes the USPS carrier might actually walk right up to your door,
but most of the time, they just leave everything with the front desk staff.

Lately, though, there seems to be this rule where they leave a notice (that yellow slip) in your mailbox saying you need to go sign for your delivery
yourself at the local USPS office...

Anyway, that’s just my experience. I hope that helps.

Thanks, dear.πŸ™‚ I actually know all about that, but honestly, she seems way too lazy to even walk from her place to the USPS.πŸ˜‰ I don't know what else to sayβ€”it makes zero sense that I'm only supposed to be receiving letters, according to her.🀷

Quick question... do I need to pack this myself, or is that something they handle at the USPS? I haven't sent anything quite like this before, so I'm feeling a bit lost scrolling through their website. All I know is whether it goes through standard mail or FedEx, but I'm mainly wondering if a package like this is okay. It's about 11 pounds and I'm shipping it to a small town in Ohio. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated. This is all for just one single package.πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰

Of course you have to pack it yourself. Just put everything into one box, wrap it up, and tie it with twine. For items up to 11 lbs with a value of $27, the cost is $13.08. If the value is higher, it will cost more; you can calculate the exact rate on the USPS website

For anything under 11 lbs with a value of $27, it'll run you about $13.08. If it's worth more than that, the price goes up; you can always run the math on the USPS website.

If I use a massive box just to make sure everything fits safely, they'll probably hit me with extra fees, right? That’s why I was looking for a small box to fit everything perfectly without getting ripped off...
The package is a 5kg CC and the total value is $267. Thanks for taking the time to help me out.πŸ˜‰

fadedcrane36 said:If the box is huge, they’ll definitely find a way to charge extra for the space, right? That’s why I was hoping for a tiny little boxβ€”something just big enough to fit everything without getting absolutely fleeced by shipping fees..

11 lbs, $267, massive box = roughly $17. smaller box = roughly $10.πŸ˜‰

Melissa Morgan77 said:That's sweet of you, thanks.πŸ™‚ I mean, I'm aware of how that works, but honestly, the girl just seems too lazy to walk from her place to the USPS.πŸ˜‰ I don't know what else to tell you; there's really no way they’d limit deliveries to just letters like she claims.🀷

There is zero chance they only accept letters. I guarantee it.
It just doesn't make sense, especially since those massive parcels or heavy boxes
always end up at the port, let alone packages full of clothes.

So yeah, there's definitely something fishy going on here.😁

So, I have a question
I sent out a certified package recently. It didn't get picked up because the recipient was away for a whole week, and apparently, her husband couldn't grab it since he didn't have power of attorney or whatever.
It hasn't actually made its way back to me yet, but the recipient gave me the heads-up on what happened.
Now I'm wondering... will I be hit with some extra shipping fee when it finally arrives back? Since nobody paid for the return trip, I don't know if they're going to demand more money from me before they let me pick it up.🀷

On another note, does anyone know why local USPS branches have started switching to those weird 8-to-3 working hours?
I guess they're just catering to retirees and people who don't have jobs anymore...

That's how it's been in small towns for a hundred years; they didn't just start doing this now.

Yeah, you'll probably have to cover the return shipping if you actually want to get your hands on it.
The 8-to-3 thing is pretty standard for most small-town post offices outside the main metro areas or in smaller cities.

The fees haven't been scrapped $1.75 😒
Paid up today..
But for the first time in five years of shipping and receiving packages, I actually saw a delivery log with signatures right next to the tracking numbers $1.75. Apparently, there's some actual record-keeping happening now! Who would have thought?

It's about 10 lbs, $267, with some decent value inside. I'm looking to send it via standard USPS, not a FedEx delivery, 😁. Any idea what the shipping should run $14? Thanks for the help..πŸ˜‰

Here’s the deal: I tried buying some pants from a girl on here (allthatglitters). She gave me her info and an account number, so I sent the cashβ€”$50 pretty sure it was back on Wednesday. The pants should have been here ages ago by now, but surprise, surprise, they're nowhere to be found.
She isn't active on the forum anymore, so she's totally ghosting my messages. Nothing at all.
Should I just suck it up and accept that I basically threw my money down the drain, or what would you guys do if you were in my shoes?

The moderator isn't even showing up on the forum anymore, so they aren't responding to anythingβ€”not a single thing.
Should I just accept that I threw my money straight down the drain, or what would you all do if you were in my shoes?

Could you stop spamming the same thing everywhere? If you have a grievance, just stick to the classifieds section. For all we know, she might be tied up right nowβ€”give her a chance to respond and just hang tight for a bit.
If things go sideways again, you might as well just opt for cash on delivery next time. πŸ˜‰

It’s not about the timing. It’s because she’s ghosting the forum, ignoring my messages, and hasn't sent my package or said a single word.

Emily Mitchell44 said:It isn't even about that; she just hasn't been active on the forum lately, hasn't replied to my messages, and hasn't sent the package or given me any updates at all.

In that case, there might be something going on, though I can only assume... perhaps give it a few more days. It is always wise to consider that life happens and someone might have unexpected responsibilities to attend to. I find it hard to believe she would try to scam you, especially if she has been a longtime member of this community...
