Alright, I’ve got a major headache with my monitor. It’s plugged into the PC properly—all cables are connected and good to go. When I boot up the computer, everything starts normally, but when I hit the power button on the monitor, it stays on for maybe a few seconds—yeah, you get an image—and then, bam, it just cuts out. Total black screen. I already checked the cables, so it's not them. I need a fix for this RIGHT NOW!!!! And if there’s already a thread about this, move my post! It’s a Samsung monitor.

And honestly, it all depends on how fast you can run over to a neighbor's or a buddy's place to borrow a monitor. Just plug it into your PC to see if the issue is actually your screen or if your graphics card is the one acting up.

I already tried plugging the monitor into my other PC at home—same exact thing. The computer boots up fine, but when I turn the monitor on, the image pops up for maybe a second or two before it just goes black. Then it cycles—turns off, turns back on, shows the picture for a heartbeat, and dies again. It's infuriating.

The computer boots up fine, but when I turn on the monitor, the image shows up for maybe a second or two before the screen just goes dark. Then the monitor cycles itself off and on, showing the image for another couple of seconds before blacking out again.

In that case, the monitor is definitely broken.
The quickest fix is just to go out and buy a new one.

The monitor itself is broken, specifically because there is an issue with its internal power supply. Getting it fixed will likely run you somewhere between $200 and $100, depending on which repair shop you take it to.

If you're dealing with a smaller unit—say a 17, 19, 20, or 22-inch model—and it's been sitting on your desk for five years or more, the cost of the repair isn't really worth the investment.

If you've decided it's time to just buy a new one and want some advice, feel free to head over to our dedicated monitor discussion board.🍿
