Hey everyone,

I could really use some help here... I just got my hands on an Intel Core i3-4160 that was given to me as a gift...
I'm wondering which motherboard would be the best bet if I want to try some overclocking,
and ideally something that won't break the bank. Mostly, I just need to play Waze and handle some basic stuff, plus
use VLC Media Player to stream things to my TV.

A bit of an upgrade, I suppose... You can actually overclock Pentiums on most H81/B85 and other non-Z boards, which might just push them past the 4GHz mark.

It looks like the settings got disabled for non-Z series motherboards. Apparently, you’re stuck having to manually reconfigure your overclock every single time you boot up now. If you want to avoid that headache, your best bet is to just grab a Z97 board—it'll run you about $100.

Right... I totally forgot how much of a scumbag Intel can be. 😬
