Yeah, totally—I remember back around 2010. Some of the crowd there (who I think I only knew on a surface level) really gave me grief—like, "Who do you think you are, kid? We run this place." I definitely pushed back, though—especially since messing with the UN mods back then was honestly pretty hilarious.😁

Nah, I mean, back like 3, 4, or 5 years ago—things were way more lively than they are now. It’s mostly because there were about ten more of us around, but honestly, there were also those 3 or 4 coworkers who we really miss.

Good grief, what a mess.
What on earth is your deal? What’s your name, anyway, and where exactly do you even hang out?
So, what neighborhood are you from—are you living downtown like me? Let me guess your zodiac sign... Aquarius, right? You seem like a total wildcard. ☕ 😁

Lisa Davis46 said:I’ve always had a soft spot for Virgos and Aquarians. To be honest, I feel like I’ve crossed paths with them more than any other signs in my life.

Hey there.

By the way, I’ve had this one friend by my side since our elementary school days, and even though we couldn't be more different if we tried, we somehow always manage to understand exactly what the other is thinking. 😍

Hey life, everything’s gone to hell.

Oh, but it’s actually way livelier now than it was this time last year! 🙂

p.s. I’ve had this one friend since elementary school. She's a total Scorpio, and we're polar opposites, but I guess we just click.

she mentored me all the way through my college graduation...

Yeah, true—things were basically dead at that point.

Speaking of post/math-rock, have you checked out these guys?

Well, I just did... and wow. It’s got a huge progressive vibe to it. Pretty wild choice considering how much you love those classic Americana anthems... 👍

Back in the fall of '97, I managed to snag one of the earliest Spoon CDs for next to nothing—a Limited Edition release. So, marking both the 23rd and the 47th anniversaries:

March 2003, IEEE. I missed out—a messy mix of circumstances and, frankly, my own questionable reasoning. If anyone here actually attended and happens to be reading this thread right now, please, leave some impressions behind. Since we’re approaching the 17th anniversary:

Some people claim they’re the best math-rock band (with some post-rock vibes) of the 21st century. I don't know—I don't really follow that scene, mostly because most of it is just boring to me—especially stuff like Hell or Don Caballero.
I actually think this is great.

And this is more than just great.

Better a grave than a slave. 😛 Jokes aside, I really miss last year's crew—the people I actually used to go out with to discover new artists. Whether it's because of the lockdowns or just life happening, everything feels way more hollow now.
Shoutout to guys like Ash, Jules, Mark R., and Late B... 🙂

👍 Tenks, this is such an interesting record—I can really hear those influences you mentioned, though I have to admit I don't catch the Slint vibe quite as much...
Elephant Talk honestly feels like it could be part of Remain in Light. 😛
Indiscipline and Thela Hun Ginjeet were totally wild to me.
It feels like The Mars Volta probably took a lot of cues from this stuff 😁

Alright, I think the first and last ones are around here somewhere. It’s a bummer Panglossa isn't posting more often—KC's pretty quiet too—and looks like Old Soul, Dile, and Suburbian have basically checked out entirely.

There are definitely enough post-rock elements here to grab my attention. But as far as pure math rock goes, I have to admit I'm not a die-hard fan. Still, what you linked sounds more than good!

So yeah, a round of applause for Ashley Grant66, Jules, Lawrence Ross, and the late B... 🙂

Not exactly the topic, but the rest of the thread has been buzzing lately! I've actually discovered quite a bit through those "Album of the Week" threads we started recently, and I'm really digging the direction things are heading. Check it out sometime 😉

Ashley Grant66 said:Tenks, that was an interesting album. You can really feel all those moments you mentioned, I guess. I just have to admit that... I don't really feel Slint that much, I guess.

I guess I can really hear them in Indiscipline now, but honestly, maybe it’s just because I finally started actually listening to it.
It’s basically the same thing, I guess. It didn't strike me that way before.

And one more thing—I’ll probably have to start a whole new thread just to talk about Nine Simone.
I mean, it's probably one of the best songs I've ever heard.
And honestly, that track isn't even hers. I haven't even come close to experiencing anything like it before...
