I was especially disgusted by them during the World Cup. They were practically calling for everyone to boycott the national team, dragging up all these scandals, and then suddenly, the very next day, they’re acting like the biggest patriots on the planet.

It's different from half of America, though. Most people were just caught up in that whole messy period right before the tournament, trashing Maaam'č, but then they totally flipped their tune once we played Nigeria. 🤣

jebiga, you've gotta know who you're talking to.

That’s exactly my point right there. They just flip-flop whenever the wind changes direction. They have zero credibility.

The guy would basically be eating his own words if anyone pointed out how much this is going to tank his ad revenue. On top of that, he’s so incredibly arrogant and full of himself that I’m honestly surprised he hasn't been taken down a notch by the public yet.

As for their investigative reporting, I get the feeling a lot of those "exposés" are actually handed to them by certain circles within the Republican Party to clear out anyone who's become a liability. My guess? Babic probably made a deal with the devil just to dodge those tax evasion charges.

I really feel like all investigative journalism across these different news sites just boils down to leaked tips from rival political factions, though I guess the edge Yahoo has is that they don't just tuck those tips away in a drawer, or well, maybe they do, but they definitely don't sit on them nearly as much as some of the other outlets out there.

I guess the only real issue here is that you're trying to find any shred of truth in clickbait, which feels like a losing battle from the start. 😁

Babic really strikes me as someone dealing with some pretty deep-seated insecurities, too, and he’s clearly not cut out for the spotlight—I mean, when Hebrang mentioned his hands were shaking, he really shouldn't have even let that slip.

But man, you gotta admit the guy has guts, because you definitely need some serious nerve to be in his position. It would be great if we had some kind of superhero fighting corruption who was young, handsome, tall, well-spoken, and totally honest.
But he isn't.
And we’re living in such a rough neck of the woods that we don't really get a choice, we just have to take whatever we can get.

But look, that was actually the whole point from the start. You can't find any legitimate, trustworthy news anywhere anymore because everyone has gone absolutely insane chasing ad revenue and clickbait. We seriously need to stop these bombastic headlines and all this garbage being copy-pasted or run through Google Translate just to clutter up news sites.

If we lived in a halfway decent country, he'd be sitting in a federal prison for tax evasion just like everyone else.

Just give it to me straight... do you honestly think Yahoo would be this massive today if Babić hadn't basically hit the jackpot back in 2004 with that Severina sex tape? I remember what Yahoo was like before that huge revelation about Babić, and I know exactly what they turned into right after. Severina’s assets basically launched him into the mainstream.

Man... there wouldn't even be a spot left for him in jail because they'd all be busy serving their sentences before they ever got to his cell.

The funniest part about this whole thing is people trying to throw tax evasion in Babić's face. Honestly, if he actually paid his taxes, he’d basically be a hypocrite at that point.

I mean, what is that money even going toward? Painting tunnels? Or maybe helping fund those shady pre-bankruptcy settlements Linićev is famous for that screw over every creditor in sight?

You’re honestly doing this country a massive favor by not paying your taxes, because the sooner the cash runs out, the sooner this entire corrupt system finally hits the reset button.

Look, Elizabeth Mendoza, my friend, let's start with some basic math here—how many actual internet news portals were even around back before 2004? 🙂

I don't really follow any news sites, though I might check out Verizon if something interesting pops up. I guess I just don't care much for what people on either side of the aisle are saying.

Yahoo never even actually published that tape.

Plus, the guy basically built News Corp from the ground up at the turn of the century—he started one of the first actual specialized news portals that felt legit. It’s not like all that success just fell out of the sky or anything.

Of course wiredrider9 is immediately jumping to the tax angle. That is probably the most obvious reach I've seen in a while, haha. 🤣 🤣

Compared to what we have now, Yahoo wasn't even close to being the powerhouse it is today back then, but that’s not really my point.

I asked if you honestly think they would have grown this much or reached their current status if it weren't for that Severina scandal. That one moment put them on the map. Overnight, they went from a tiny little site visited by almost nobody—one that focused 99% on investigative journalism—to the massive media giant they are today.

Then why on earth did Severina sue them? 🤔

Man, you're really out here spreading misinformation again. 😁 I mean, Babić actually admitted several times that Yahoo's traffic was almost entirely just grabbing stuff from the Associated Press, and they'd just sprinkle in some original bits to grab people's attention. They honestly didn't have the resources to do anything else, I guess.

Look, I'm just repeating what he told me personally when he sat down with Stankovic over at NU2 a few years back.

If he was lying to my face then, I'm allowed to lie now.

Because of some copyright infringement claim—which, honestly, turned out to be totally fake, no joke! 😁

So, the bottom line is that Yahoo only ever reported on the fact that her video existed. They never actually showed the footage itself, which is funny because they loved to brag about that later on! I guess it was all just hype, maybe? 😁

My whole point is just that we're talking about ancient history in terms of internet portals, so that old sex tape doesn't really matter anymore, or maybe it was just one tiny little cog among two hundred thousand others that eventually pushed Yahoo to where it is now.
