Never before seen! Truly groundbreaking!
What more could you possibly need?
absolutely ☕
Smartphone development has plateaued—there’s nowhere left to go until we get batteries capable of actually powering heavy apps for any decent amount of time. I picked up an SGS2 back in 2011; unfortunately, it kicked the bucket after two and a half years, but whatever. My girlfriend grabbed an SGS4 a few months ago and didn't really get anything more than what my old one offered, aside from a slightly larger screen and a camera with more megapixels. 🤷
Is it worth dropping $500 on a new phone? I doubt it. 🤷
The iPhone specifically stands out because it offers zero value for the price tag, yet everyone feels the need to own one for the status. My cousin—who studied marketing at a top university despite being unemployed for ten years and living off her husband's business—always insists on having an iPhone. A month ago, something glitched and YouTube vanished from her phone. She dumped the problem on me since she’s practically illiterate when it comes to tech. I went to download it from their store, and it asks for an Apple ID. I asked her about it, and she just goes, "I don't have one, I never bothered setting that up, I just use what's already there." Honestly... 😕 And this is her third one. What does she actually get out of owning an iPhone? Nothing. She could have bought an entry-level WP or Android device, saved a few hundred bucks, and had the exact same experience.
Personally, the saddest part is that she actually studied marketing only to fail that hard at it. If she showed up to a marketing interview carrying an iPhone, I’d just laugh in her face.
And there are probably a million people like her—people who can't do anything with that piece of junk besides make a call and send a text.

It should be obvious that they could do way more, but they won't, because they're selling plenty as it is. They aren't stupid enough to work harder than they have to. It really shows you people's character, but hey, money > morals

Don't you guys get it? Something is worth exactly what people are willing to pay for it.
Look, there's nothing special about it. So what? Does it actually need features if someone’s gonna buy it anyway?
Besides, it’s not like these phones are garbage. I bet they save you just as much cash as whatever else you would've blown on if you hadn't grabbed this one.

But what if you took that same amount of cash and bought a bald eagle instead?

I have an iPhone 4, but since my company provided it and covers all the bills, I really don't have any complaints. It’s actually a decent phone, and the screen is quite nice. Besides, when everyone supports almost every app anyway, the specific model doesn't seem to matter that much. Honestly, I wouldn't spend another cent on a phone, not even $33 if I had to buy one myself. I guess people who drop $700 or more on something like this might need a little help from a mental health professional. There are so many better ways to spend that money—like getting a solid bike, a week of skiing in the Alps, or maybe just buying about 200 boxes of condoms...
If you ask me, the only truly innovative little gadget lately has been the e-reader. Though, I didn't even buy mine myself; I definitely prefer it when people give them to me as gifts.

Why on earth would I need a smartphone, just so I can scroll through gems on Reddit while wandering around town? 🤦

Just another myth.
The 3310 actually had a catastrophic battery for its era. It would last maybe three or four days at most.

I think the concept behind smartphones is pretty straightforward, which explains why they've become so huge. They fit in your pocket, have color screens, full internet access, decent cameras, and enough storage for hundreds of photos or a massive music library. It’s not even that groundbreaking—PDAs have been around for a while—but they didn't really hit that sweet spot of being affordable for everyone until recently. Plus, having reliable 3G mobile data was a huge prerequisite for making the internet actually useful on the go, and that's only been a recent thing too.
What I don't quite get, though, are tablets and all those people lugging them around like giant cameras while they're out walking through the city. It feels a bit primitive to me, honestly.

Here is an interesting read: Don't be an asshole with your iPad

The only way he’s getting one cheap is if it’s already dead. Then it won't cost him anything.

Top tier 🤣
He looked completely stunned when he first got a taste of it, but the man just won't let go, will he? 🤣
