Does anyone know which tools work best for overclocking an X1950Pro?

If there are a few different options out there, please let me know... thanks.🙂

ATI Tool
I would recommend using ATI Tray Tools 👍 for this task.

Also, RivaTuner

I'd definitely recommend using RivaTuner 👍
along with ATI Tray Tools

Just a heads up, you won't be able to actually perform the overclocking on an X1950Pro using just the ATI Tool

Edit: Don't go expecting a massive jump in performance, though. You might be able to hit a stable 630-640 MHz on the core, and maybe a little higher for the memory, perhaps around 1500 MHz.

Think of it this way: use the ATI Tool strictly for stability testing—like finding your max core and max memory limits—but rely on RivaTuner when it comes to the actual overclocking.

By the way, if you happen to have the Powercolor 256 mb version of the X1950Pro, would you mind sharing your results? I'd love to see what the maximum stable frequency ends up being for the memory.

How does everyone feel about using ATI Tool to overclock an X1950Pro? The renderer looks a bit smoother than what I get with AT&T. Personally, I think AT&T performs better, and there’s zero difference in my max clock speeds. I’m just starting to play around with RivaTuner now to see if it actually lives up to the hype (it looks pretty beefy).

EDIT: My max core clock hit 675MHz, though I kept it steady at 655MHz.
mema - I had mine running at 805MHz.

Which manufacturer are we talking about, and how much video memory does it have?

My apologies, I misspoke earlier—I highly doubt it actually held a stable 675MHz.

If you set it to 675MHz in the ATI Tool and run the "scan for artifacts" function, I guarantee everything will just go south.😁

You might be able to overclock the core, but if I try to push the memory, there is just no way it works.
sadece using AT&T&Riva

It looks like I’m starting to see artifacts at 683MHz when I check things in ATI Tool, and I’m honestly not even sure about hitting 67xMHz in AT&T. To be safe, I’m just keeping the core at 655MHz.

Alright, I’m heading off to run some tests now. Just a heads-up: I’ve noticed that artifacts start popping up on the ATi tool once I hit the 620 mark...
The temperature climbs up to about 75 degrees 😲

temps jump up to 75😲

What brand are you running? For me, nothing beats the S1—it's lightning fast.

Using the stock Microsoft cooler, my temps have already hit 76 degrees Celsius at idle, and they’re still climbing 😲

The fans have actually started spinning up...
I honestly have no idea why this is happening!!!
I have a 250mm side intake, a 120mm fan in the front, and two 80mm fans in the rear
There is plenty of airflow moving through the case

edit: It just hit 81 degrees

As long as it’s Microsoft and I can afford it, I'm happy.👍
Is a 250mm gap actually caused by the GPU, or is the processor just hitting its limit? (Though, let's be real, it's probably both)😁

It’s hitting 87 degrees... honestly, this is a total nightmare. 😢

Now it's at 88... 🙏

I have a 250mm fan running at full blast, and it covers almost the entire motherboard, yet what does it get me?

Just climbed to 89 degrees now.

EDIT: I just hit my 2,000th post! 😁 😁 😁

Even before Peak Performance came along, everyone was criticizing Colorama cards, even though their cooling systems were actually superior to the reference models. Look where we are now...

Do you run a Colorama yourself? Their iPhone 15 Pro models used to bundle with either the X1 (or maybe it was the iPhone X, I can't quite remember if one was for ATI or NVIDIA) and the S1, and they were always cheaper than the Microsoft ones. What's the move here?...

EDIT: iPhone X

No, I don't.

I’ve got a bit of a question for you guys. I’m currently running an Intel Core i7 at its stock settings, which sits right at 2.66GHz, but I was browsing some forums online and apparently, this thing is a total beast if you know what you're doing; they say if you manage to get the cooling dialed in just right, you can push it all the way up to 4GHz. So, I decided to take a crack at it myself and managed to bump mine up to 2.9GHz. But now, here's where I'm getting tripped up.
When I look at the clock speed readout, it shows 2.66 @2.92
What I'm trying to wrap my head around is whether that first number is just the factory default speed and the second one is what's actually happening right now, or is that number representing the speed of an individual core?
Thanks in advance for any insight you can share.

The first one is the factory setting, while what follows the @ symbol is the current frequency

I was wondering what people mean when they talk about a dual DVI connector—my old graphics card only had a single DVI port, but this new iPhone 15 Pro setup features a dual DVI layout. Does that mean I actually need to go out and buy a new cable or something? thanks

It simply means there are two DVI outputs available on the card. Some cards, for instance, might feature both a DVI and a VGA output. You won't need a different cable.

Well, "dual" pretty much means two, doesn't it?....
It simply means you have two DVI ports instead of just one, which gives you the option to run two monitors at once. Is it a game-changer? Probably not for everyone, but it's certainly a nice little bonus to have available!😁😁😁
