I was wondering if there’s any kind of sound dampening material out there that could be installed inside a chassis, or perhaps even applied directly to the exterior of the case itself... Does anyone happen to know where I might actually find something like that for purchase?

I’ve got this DFI Lan Party UT NF4 Ultra-D setup running an Intel Athlon 3200
with some Kingmax 433MHz sticks
and I had a quick question😕. Right now, my multiplier is sitting at x10, and I’ve bumped the FSB up to 220, which means my memory is currently clocked at 220 (so, 440 effective). I was wondering if I pushed the FSB even higher, would the whole system just fall apart because I'd be outrunning the RAM? Basically, is it time to start playing around with the FSB/DRAM ratio, or should I just focus on bumping up the memory voltage instead? 🙂

Well, I think the solution is pretty straightforward if you just adjust the ratio to bring those frequencies down... even though it looks like they might be pushing past 470MHz once you crank up the voltage a bit more...

I was wondering, though... if I end up dialing back the memory frequency, am I going to see a dip in performance while gaming or just during heavy workloads? Or is there a chance that the increased bus bandwidth might actually balance things out and give me a little boost? Also, does anyone know the safe upper limit for memory voltage before things get dicey?😬

Well, you might want to try tweaking the ratio so your CPU hits that specific overclocked sweet spot you're aiming for, while keeping the memory frequency sitting right around 400MHz... As for the voltage requirements for DDR, I honestly couldn't tell you because my experience has mostly been limited to SDRAM and DDR2 🙂 🙂

Alright, I'll get those settings over to you tomorrow, but in the meantime, would you mind doing me a huge favor and giving this CPU review a look? I'd really love to hear what you think about it. 👍

Well, hitting 2.8GHz would be an absolutely stellar score for a processor like that... though, if you're really aiming to nail that specific number, you might find yourself needing to pick up a brand new cooler just to keep things from overheating 🙂

I think you might have missed a bit of the fine print here: "The results were nothing short of amazing, as I was able to reach 2.8 GHz on the standard 1.4v voltage and with standard Intel air cooling."😲 😬

Well, sure, but honestly, you rarely see them pushing past 2.9GHz...🙂

Look, I’ll be the first to admit it: when it comes to overclocking, I am a complete amateur. I’m looking for some serious help or at least some basic guidelines to follow...
Here is my current setup:
Mobo: ASrock AM2XLI-ESATA2/soc.AM2
CPU: Intel Athlon 64 3000+ S.AM2 box
RAM: 512MB DDR2 PC667 takeMS CL5 (2 sticks)

So, here is what I’m stuck on:😁 When I'm in the BIOS, should I be messing with the FSB or the HTT?
(From what I gather, bumping up the FSB also cranks up the speed of the PCI and PCIe ports, which could mess with my graphics card, whereas the HTT wouldn't affect them.)
If I decide to tweak the FSB, what should I set the PCI and PCIe speeds to? And if I go the HTT route, should I just leave those other settings on automatic?
My memory is rated at 667, which means 333. Do I need to dial that back?
Also, I really need some guidance regarding latency.

I'm aiming to push this thing up to 2.4GHz (for now).
Right now, it's sitting at 2.2GHz and it seems to be running fine, though I haven't actually sat down to run any stability tests yet...

You aren't going to gain anything from those extra 200MHz. Stop chasing ghosts...

Oh, don't give me that nonsense.
The 3000+ runs at 1.8 GHz by default.
That means we're talking about 600 MHz, which is barely a third of the speed. It's pathetic.
If you can't take actual advice...🙂

Just buy 1GB of RAM instead.🙄

No one here has actually posted their "masterpieces" yet; until I see some actual validation, I'm not buying it—no offense intended.

Give me a break. Intel Pentium M 🙂
It could probably go higher, but the board hit a wall. I picked up an ASUS ROG motherboard, so I'm just waiting for it to cool down outside before we try again. 😁

Thinking about pushing this beast a little further. I bumped the FBI by 8 yesterday and it seemed fine for a few hours before hitting a BSOD...

just using a stock cooler

If you're looking to do any real overclocking, you'll need to bump up the voltages—which means you definitely need decent cooling. That stock cooler isn't really up to the task, I guess.

I'm assuming you haven't messed with the voltages yet. That’s probably why you're hitting those BSODs.

Also, this part: DDR2-SDRAM single Channel would probably be better off as dual Channel.

Yeah, I didn't even touch the power supply... I guess he just tried to push it a bit too hard, but since there's no juice, poof...

Bryan Sanchez86 said:Don't even start. Athlon XP-M 2600 🙂
It could definitely push higher, but the motherboard just couldn't handle it. I picked up a DFI NF2 Ultra INFINITY, so now I'm just waiting for things to cool down outside before we dive back in. 😁

I've seen that before; Mr. Express is hanging around there too...
But what I meant were those guys like Mike who brag about hitting 6600 with no actual validation... you see, once I brought it up (just a few pages ago), how much less they seem to show up on overclocking forums lately... 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

Folks... here it is, complete with validation... though honestly, it’s just another meaningless blip in an endless stream of nothingness...

I actually let myself get my hopes up for a second when I saw you had posted something.
