Since we're already discussing overclocking peripherals, does anyone here have actual experience with mouse overclocking? Specifically, I'm talking about increasing the USB polling rate (which is set to 125 Hz by default). Is it actually worth the effort?

My Crysis keeps stuttering...😢
As for Las Vegas—it’s running okay, I guess...
Though I haven't been playing many games lately.

And why on earth would that be?

And one more thing

What kind of clock speeds can I actually squeeze out of a Q6600 if I’m just relying on air cooling?

I haven't really been in the mood to game lately....
I don't know—I think I've just lost my spark for it...

So, based on your best estimate, roughly how much are we looking at here?

So, is this actually a decent result?
Since I'm still running on the stock cooler that came with the E6300, I haven't pushed things too hard yet—I'm sitting at about 2.2GHz right now.
The motherboard (an Abit FP-IN9) lets you mess with unlinked OC for both the CPU and the bus, which is a nice little perk, but since I'm not running a 1:1 ratio right now,
well, you can't really have your cake and eat it too, I guess.
Because I’m currently pinching every penny to save up for a new GPU, specifically an 🙂 Radeon 3870 🙂, I don't have the extra cash for a beefy aftermarket cooler; once I finally scrape enough together, then I'll start pushing this processor harder.
Right now, that 7x multiplier is absolutely killing me, 😠 and honestly, this board isn't exactly built for hardcore overclocking anyway.😢

Oh man, if even the motherboard isn't holding up for you...
But regarding that X7 Multi, I believe your board should be capable of handling a 400 FSB overclock, shouldn't it?

Well, I guess we'll see if it actually works once that new liquid cooler finally shows up 😉

E6700 @ 3.5GHz—just a little something to kick things off (running at about 1.43V for now)

Check out the validation here: http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=280222

Quick little update for you all:I’ve managed to push my E6700 up to 3846MHz, while keeping the memory sitting steady at 1000MHz with timings set at 5-5-5-18... resulting in a benchmark score of 13.375.

It looks like everything checks out as valid - http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=280236... so we are officially in business!

I really hate to keep bothering him with this, but I’ll get back to it tomorrow... I honestly think he can push past 4.2GHz, though I’ll have to be incredibly careful when I try to pull that off (fingers crossed!)

It’s actually quite fascinating how little this processor runs hot; you could pretty much leave it sitting at 3.7GHz all day, every day, without the temps ever getting out of hand. By the way, just a heads up that Core Temp isn't exactly giving me the full story on the heat levels... 0.94 shows a reading that's lower than what's actually happening, whereas once it hits 0.95.4, the whole system just restarts. 🙂

I'm going to hunt around for a more reliable version of Core Temp, but until then, I think NMonitor is giving me the most accurate read.

This CPU is an absolute beast, truly... specifically with the SL9S7 stepping, which basically means we're looking at a chip capable of hitting 5.5GHz on liquid nitrogen.

wiredmarlin5, what kind of cooler are you running?
