If I were to toss yours and mine together in Crossfire...😉
What’s the damage?
I'm not quite following you there... why on earth would you want to pick this one up, especially since you've already got that P35 sitting in your rig?...

I'd have to swap out the motherboard too—that goes without saying, really—but I'm just not sure if my bank account is ready to take that kind of hit right now...

I could potentially track down an ASUS Striker Extreme for you with a solid warranty included 😉... I just can't quite decide if it's actually worth the investment at this point

8800GT at stock settings paired with an E6400 @ 3.1GHz gets me 18000 on 3DMark05

Now, my old GTS which I’ve overclocked like crazy combined with that same E6400 @ 3.59GHz hits 18880 on 3DMark05

Moving over to 3DMark06:
The 8800GT running at 700/2000 with the E6400 @ 3.1GHz yields...

On the other hand, even with those insane clock speeds, the GTS couldn't even break past 11000...
The card stays pretty quiet until the fans hit about 50% speed, but once they ramp up after that, it gets loud as hell...
For $527 -> It's a fantastic buy!🙂

Nice work!
I'm not sure if I'd go out and grab a new card right now—money's just a bit tight at the moment...😢

Oh, no way, you have an absolutely stellar board there that you won't need to worry about upgrading for quite a long time... 🙂

I know... but honestly, I’m ready for a new graphics card right about now.
Don't get me wrong—my GTS is doing just fine—but man, I would love to finally get my hands on that GT!

If we’re being totally honest here, it just doesn't make sense to hold on...
Honestly, the only reason I actually pulled the trigger on an upgrade was out of pure boredom, though I have to admit I felt a bit of a sting watching the resale value of my GTS plummet toward $333 (for used gear, obviously)... so I figured I might as well swap it out while it still holds some actual value.
I mean, once that new Series 9 lineup hits the shelves in a couple of months, that 8800GT is going to be worth basically $267... nothing at all, really.

I’m with you on that—spot on.
Have you ever actually tried gaming on an nVidia Quadro...? — specifically paired with a Q6600 and 4 GB of RAM?
Tried it—and honestly? Total dud. Huge disappointment. I mean, I knew this wasn't exactly built for hardcore gaming, but man... that was a letdown. Heh.😁

I have. Let me put it this way: it was a complete dud. A total disappointment. I knew it wasn't designed for gaming, but man... it was underwhelming, to say the least. hehe.....😁
Mike, my man, where did you pop up from?! Haha. It’s a small world, even in a digital space like this!

No way, are you serious?
How did I even end up here...
Actually, I think I’m officially your most active member—haha...😉
Just look at my post count...🙂
Haha, good to see you, old friend...

Quick question for the group!
Is the stock cooler that comes bundled with the E4500 actually up to the task if I decide to overclock it? To put it simply, I’m thinking about picking up the CPU and giving it a little nudge—nothing crazy, just tweaking things without cranking the voltage past 3.0. Will that be enough to keep things stable, or am I going to need to shell out extra cash for a Typhoon cooler?
Model: Dual-core 2×2.2GHz
Socket: LGA 775 | Clock Speed: 2x2.2GHz
FSB: 800MHz | L2 Cache: 2 MB
Package includes: Heatsink and Fan

And look, we really can't say for sure until we see if those temperatures start creeping up toward the 80-90°C range, haha. If they do, then yeah, you’re definitely going to have to invest in a better cooler.😁
But honestly, even if you have to bump up the voltage just to hit that 3GHz mark, as long as your temps stay under control, there isn't any real need to swap out your current cooling setup...

I definitely wouldn't recommend overclocking with that stock cooler!
It’ll serve you forever if you just stick to stock voltages—but the second you decide to push an OC, you really ought to swap it out...

But really, what’s actually going to cause a processor to fail prematurely? If you find things are getting a bit unstable, just bump up the voltage slightly when necessary—though I honestly suspect the stock settings will handle everything just fine. You might also consider adding some extra airflow to the case to keep things cool...
