Give me the Pixies, then. I see they've got an open slot.

plus they totally stole the spotlight from Massive Attack, you know, Brogan? 😛

I can't say I agree there. For me, Massive Attack absolutely crushed it. Even though I initially thought I might skip them because I wasn't really feeling the hype... turns out it was incredible.

Henry Mitchell29 said:I wouldn't exactly say I'm screaming with joy about Arcade Fire. ☕

Lately, I’ve been deep in a rabbit hole with this stuff... Kraftwerk, Prodigy, Massive Attack, even The Flaming Lips. I caught a Kanye set live for the first time and it just hit different. Honestly, lost track of all the other heavy hitters that actually matter.
Arcade Fire is just some basic, mid-tier indie rock to me. Honestly, they aren't gonna cut it. ☕
Someone who actually gets Brogan going. Honestly. The holy grail. . 🤣

Metal is my jam, personally. But honestly, thank God we’re actually getting bands like Arcade Fire that give a damn about real values and actually respect art.

I really hope that in the coming years we see less of the same garbage—less obsession with boobs and butts, less R&B trash, all that hip-swiveling nonsense, skinniest models you ever saw, heavy makeup, and just plain bad electronic music.

Arcade Fire isn't some "indie-alt" thing or whatever you're trying to claim. They're just a straight-up rock band celebrating how beautiful life is.

Look, we already saw how it goes. There’s no such thing as a "regional exclusive" with their Lollapalooza set. Get that nonsense out of your head. It's just fake hype. Just like last year when The Flaming Lips didn't play Lollapalooza because the organizers claimed they had some "exclusive" deal. Total garbage.

AIC and FL only played at Coachella because our promoters reached out and actually met their demands. They put on legendary sets that people will be talking about for years—hopefully, those won't be the last ones we see around here.

The US and the UK are two completely separate markets. They don't depend on each other at all.

So they're supposedly the elite few actually making real, exciting art today? Give me a break... ☕
there are mountains of better stuff out there. Beyond that narrow little indie rock bubble...

They are simply a rock band celebrating the beauty of life.

They celebrate by being whiny, sappy, and pretentious. ☕
the beauty of a pathetic existence...😁

@Robin Booth, honestly both bands were incredible, but I’ve gotta stir the pot a little with Henry Mitchell29 just a bit 😳 he can be such a handful 😠
(I mean, are Massive Attack really that consistent and sincere when it comes to their political messages? 🙄)
Anyway, I won't 😁 further
But seriously, alongside Sonic Youth, they’re easily my favorite bands to ever play at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival so far 🙂

Kenneth Collins8 said:...and now someone is claiming I'm coming out with the wrong info...

You're only a quarter of the way through! Plus, Foo Fighters have shows scheduled across Scandinavia during both of those days, so you already dropped at least one mistake 😛

Arcade Fire are indie by default just because they're on Merge Records 🙂

The Shins aren't even touring right now, and I'm not sure if the Pixies are in Europe... but man, it wouldn't be bad if they were—especially The Shins, since they've never actually played a show in America.

but it’s nice that bands like Arcade Fire still show up, actually sticking to their values and respecting the art.

Arcade Fire isn't some "indie-alt" thing or whatever you're trying to label them. They're just a rock band celebrating the beauty of life.

You're totally missing the mark here... 😂😂😂😂

If we're really going there, I'd have mentioned The Black Angels, or maybe Jack White and his latest project, The Dead Weather... instead of Arcade Fire.
And calling them "just a rock band" is a stretch. Thank God they have a million different genres under their belt... saying someone is "just a rock band" feels a bit... naive.

Look, The Dead Weather is a decent enough band—don't get me wrong—but honestly, nothing Jack White has done since then even comes close to the magic of Funeral. 😛
Man, though, wouldn't it be absolutely legendary if The White Stripes did a reunion tour and hit up Washington, D.C.? I was just a kid when they first blew up...

But seriously, is anyone actually happy with this lineup? It feels like everyone is just finding something to complain about, whether it's the bands already on the roster or the ones they haven't even announced yet! ☕

though it would be killer if The White Stripes played in Washington, D.C. again. Back then, I barely even knew who they were..

Keep complaining about every single band, whether they've already played or are scheduled for the festival, and see where that gets you. ☕

You've got to be kidding me... 😕

Honestly, let whoever play. I probably won't have the cash anyway... so...🤣
I just can't stand how people worship Arcade Fire.
But if, say, The Black Angels showed up along with some other band actually worth seeing live, I might actually find a way to scrape the money together...

Hmmm... maybe Grinderman? 🤣

I want to see M.I.A. perform in Washington, D.C. 😁

Fun stuff. High energy. Unconventional. True world music in its best form.
That beats sitting through some bland indie crap—just staring at the sky for no reason while listening to soft Canadian rock or other "important" bands. 😁

Oh man, don't tease me with talk about The Shins, because if they actually ended up playing, I’d be genuinely gutted that I couldn't make it out there.😬

The organizers are actually giving you a shot at deciding who hits the stage at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. All you have to do is head over to their official site, hit the wishlist button, and drop in five names of artists you're dying to see.

Listing five performers like this just doesn't feel right.
Do you guys honestly think they actually read all of this?
Besides, I have some inside info that they already know who's playing, and they're just telling me to grab a ticket because it's going to be a blast 😁
and that there will be a bit of hype at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival

besides—from my own reliable sources—they already know who's hitting the stage. they just told me to grab a ticket because it’s going to be an interesting ride😁
and there might be some hype building for the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival 2009

so what does that mean—are we looking at another Bud Light metal stage??

silentdriver12, I don't necessarily think they're actually reading it, but maybe there's some algorithm tracking how many times certain bands get mentioned or whatever? Anyway, feel free to drop any info you have! I heard a rumor that Florence + The Machine might show up, but honestly, that doesn't mean much to me—I don't want to get my hopes up too high without knowing if it's legit... 😬

Henry Mitchell29 said:I really wish M.I.A. would perform...

I haven't exactly been following /\/\ /\ Y |_| 😁 but this is a way more coherent and decent post... well, until that last paragraph, anyway! I can see what you're trying to do there, but trust me—you aren't going to successfully push "slop" as a legitimate term!!! 🙂

The Shins aren't even touring right now, and who knows when we'll hear anything from them 🤷 since Mercer is busy with other projects 🙄 else...

Zachary Ward4 said:You've got to be kidding me... 😕

I REFUSE TO CHAT WITH YOU WHEN YOU'RE MIXING LANGUAGES SO TACKILY!!

😬

No, I'm not teasing you—that's just my take on it! But I was hoping you'd realize it's pretty nonsensical to compare those bands... I mean, both Arcade Fire and The White Stripes are incredible, influential acts, but they have totally different sounds! And even if comparing them made sense, this definitely isn't the place for it.

Hype for 2009?

Lily Allen?
NERD?
Anthrax?

Look, Arcade Fire and The White Stripes are both great and they definitely left a mark, but their sounds couldn't be more different. Even if there were some logic to linking them, this isn't the place to dive into it.

The only thing I agree with is that this isn't the right thread for it. 🤣
