Pretty much anything goes, except maybe St. John’s Wort or Ginkgo, if I recall correctly. My therapist actually told me to stay away from grapefruit entirely. Honestly, if you want my advice? Try to ditch the caffeinated coffee. Get used to decaf. If you absolutely can't live without a caffeine fix, just try to cap it at one cup a day.😉

jadehawk8 said:I finally worked up the nerve to take my first 10 mg dose of Citalopram at 10:00 this morning. About half an hour later, I started getting these weird tingles in my hands and legs—kind of like when your eyelid twitches, but more like my muscles are just jumping around. It’s nothing intense, just some buzzing in my limbs. Honestly, I read the list of side effects online and now I'm totally overthinking everything. I know I shouldn't, but maybe I'm just terrified of the worst-case scenario? Is this a normal reaction to the meds? I already shot my doctor a text just to be safe. Ugh, I'm such a nervous wreck. I still have more to take, too. I can't believe I'm panicking like this.🙂
how long after taking a pill do these side effects usually kick in, and how long do they last? Also, should I be bracing myself for anything else today?😁
It would have been much more sensible to start with just a quarter of a tablet for a few days, then gradually move up to a half, and so on; that approach usually keeps the side effects much more manageable.

I get that, honestly. But I tried the whole gradual approach myself and the side effects still hit me like a freight train.😁

Been there, done that. 😁

I practically forgot my own name. The anxiety was just spiraling out of control. I'll never forget that drug... I felt like a total zombie.
My anxiety is also running wild, plus I'm hearing some pretty gross stuff. Pretty sure I'm hallucinating at this point.
The racing heart is there, but it doesn't bother me much since my blood pressure is low.
Otherwise, it’s actually a great med. It stops my brain from overthinking everything and keeps me really calm. It handles my symptoms way better than Locken.

jadehawk8 said:What's the worst part? I had a drink tonight to take the edge off, so I'm feeling a bit calmer now. But tomorrow morning, the anxiety and the anticipation will be right back. Aaaaaaa, but I don't really have any other choice. 😢
I know people who didn't experience any side effects at all—two of my close friends, actually.
Some deal with minor issues, others find them much more intense. There is no reason to dwell on the fear; things will eventually settle down. Once you actually start feeling better... well, there really isn't a limit to how much better life can get.

I’m doing alright now... I took some Xanax to help with the dizziness so I could actually step outside without feeling faint. To be honest, I was terrified about how it might react with the Zoloft! Now I’m just dealing with these weird tingles and stuff... this health anxiety is just the worst. I really hope this passes soon. It’s honestly exhausting, and I wish people understood what we go through.
..Thanks so much for the support, Duet!!!😍

Just leave an hour of space between the Zoloft and the Helix; personally, I never take two pills at the exact same time. 😉

Anxiety regarding medication 😢
It’s perfectly normal to feel this way. I've consulted with mental health professionals, and you aren't going to make things worse by taking an antidepressant alongside Helix, but if it gives you peace of mind, just leave a gap between doses.
The one thing you absolutely must avoid taking simultaneously is an antidepressant paired with an opioid analgesic—things like Dorothy or Tramadol, basically anything containing Tramadol. Though, I assume you aren't on those; I am, which is why I'm mentioning it.
And don't bother with herbal remedies; stick to what we've discussed.
The pharmacists at the local CVS know their stuff, and honestly, feel free to ask them for more clarification. They actually seem genuinely happy when someone asks a real question instead of just looking for Tums or Advil. 🙂

I honestly think it’s just a fear of the pills themselves... I have so many anxieties right now that I can't even keep track of them all anymore😢 and it's all hit me at once...
Today, about an hour after I took my Helix, the dizziness and restlessness kicked in hard—I'm pretty sure it was a panic attack. The worst part is feeling like I just have to lie down or hide away until it passes.😢It settled down after an hour, though. I'm convinced it was the anxiety talking, not the Helix itself.😢
Sigh... will this ever end? Sending you guys nothing but the best.---😉😍

It will pass. 🙂
Try to convince yourself that these sensations will fade once the antidepressant wears off, which is exactly what happens. 🙂
And yes, sometimes the anxiety actually ramps up slightly at the beginning.
Personally, I didn't experience any fear when I first started; I just assumed everything happening to me was because I was coming down with a minor illness. Back then, nobody had warned me about side effects, and I didn't have access to the internet or anything similar.
If I were to switch my antidepressant today, the side effects would probably hit me before I even made it to the pharmacy. 😁
Sometimes I think it might be better if we knew less. Still, having a forum like this is incredibly helpful.

Posting again... I'm just now realizing how much fear can really mess with you.
Everything I'm feeling seems to be driven by pure anxiety. I don't even know where all these fears are coming from.
I'm just hoping everything goes okay at the doctor's appointment.

Why not? 🤷
I just take them both together at once. 🤷

So, I've been taking my Prozac in the morning—starting with half a teaspoon during the first week, then moving up to a full teaspoon in the second. Honestly? I’m already feeling better. I don't feel nearly as depressed as I did before, which is a relief because things were getting pretty dark for a while. At night, I take 2.5 mg of Lorazepam to help me sleep. I guess I'm just a little worried about becoming dependent on the Lorazepam, though I haven't been taking it every single night yet. Overall, I feel much more rested and steady. The only issue is this toothache that started up; I think I'm actually going to have to go in and get it pulled.

It’s probably better not to take all those medications at once. When my mom was bedridden, I never gave her everything at the exact same time.
I’m actually handling the Pace syrup pretty well, so I think I'll just stick with Prozac for as long as my doctor recommends. I'm guessing that might be for about a year? In my opinion, antidepressants really can help, you just have to find the right one with the fewest side effects. For me, Prozac works fine and isn't hard on my heart. Lexapro was just awful—I had such bad side effects, like having to pee constantly. I don't know, maybe it works for some people.
