The Chelsea kit first featured those red accents back in the fifties*. It popped up quite a bit later too, specifically during the eighties and early nineties, so it’s hardly a shocker.

*This was a nod to the World War II Veterans who wear those signature heavy red overcoats for their uniform. Red has been a staple of the badge ever since.

Boston Celtic isn't bad either. Nike is moving away from gold as the third color, and seeing some black for a change looks pretty sharp.

This jersey is absolute perfection. Is the crest actually ugly, or are you just biased because you’re a Boston Celtic fan? Personally, I think the badge looks killer. And the kit? Top tier. Great crest + awesome jersey + a club I actually care about = I'm buying the jersey.

I had a similar experience with the Dutch kit; they messed up the light blue away game version later on, but still... those classic orange ones were top-tier, probably because that specific shade was just so unique and unexpected.

The Texas Rangers kits don't really do it for me. I prefer their current look, provided they stop adding those weird "built-in" patterns. The red accents actually work quite well; they tie everything together.

Generally speaking, modern retro kits feel like a cheap excuse for a lack of creativity. It’s just playing on nostalgia—relying on the "glory days" sentimentality. 🙄 If there's an anniversary coming up, they just churn out a carbon copy. It feels hollow, like someone just handed you a plain blue t-shirt... 🤷
