Has anyone ever actually tried the cakes or pastries from the Kaiser bakery? I believe it’s located over on Dubois Street, if my memory serves me right...
We ended up picking Inela for our restaurant choice...there aren't any desserts or cakes listed on their main menu, though you can certainly request them after the fact...they charge an extra $2 per person for pastries, or just $1 per person if you want a slice of cake...so, now...if you happen to have ordered anything similar or have sampled their sweets before...please let me know...is it actually worth the extra cost?

Honestly, at every wedding I've been to, 90% of that stuff just sits there untouched because the taste is absolutely revolting...😲

I mean, maybe just count the hairs on your tongue... or, uh, on your fingers... 🤣 🤣 🤣
Marzipan has this very specific flavor profile where you either absolutely love it or you can't stand it... I don't think there's really a middle ground... but fondant isn't quite like that... you might adore it, or find it okay enough to eat... but it's hard to imagine someone finding it completely repulsive the way they might with Marzipan... Maybe it was just terrible at the places you've been... who knows who you've been hanging out with lately... 😛 😛 😛

I personally just love Marzipan—the real deal, too, not that sickly sweet stuff they make using cheap almonds with barely any bitterness—but I'm pretty sure 80% of my guests would probably spit it out if I served it... 😁 😁

Dammit, when you have a wedding at a high-end Embassy in Palm Springs and the agency handles every single detail, you expect a top-tier cake. I've been to basic "country" weddings too, and even there, the buttercream was mediocre 😁. Look, I won't opt for Marzipan even though I love it, but I'm definitely not doing buttercream... I don't need my guests making weird faces at me, thanks much 🤣

Oh, you're being silly... people should make faces! That’s how you end up looking your best in photos... 😉

Oh, absolutely... between the spotlights blinding me and this dress making me look pregnant, I'm practically begging for attention... 😂

The outside was covered in fondant, which I personally find a bit too sweet, but hey, anything beats plain Marzipan... 😁

Wait, was your wedding actually held out in California? Or maybe I've just misremembered things because, looking at the photos, that's how it comes across to me 🤷, and was the cake from NYC? I'm asking because I've been thinking about having a cake flown in from NYC all the way to Ohio for myself, so I figured I'd check in and see what the consensus is on their quality.

feraltrucker22 said:. . So, what are you all planning to put on top of the cake? I’m drawing a blank. I can't stand those little bride and groom figurines they usually use at the venue where I'll be working, and I'm definitely not a fan of pigeons either...🤷

Since roses are the main theme for the decor, they’re going on the cake too... or something like that.

Yeah, the wedding was held in California, but we used a catering service from Chicago (Ferrero). They partner with a specific bakery for their desserts, so they just had the cake delivered along with the rest of the food... 😉

. . I suspect we'll end up with something similar, just using succulents instead.

Aha, okay, thanks for clearing that up! Just curious, though—how much extra did that end up costing you for the trip out to California?

Can someone please tell me once and for all... are those ribbons wrapped around the cake layers actually satin, or is it some kind of edible material?image

They could be made of satin, but ours will be crafted from marzipan.🙂

To be honest... I have no clue. We're heading over to their place next week to settle the bill... 🤷

theonlyfuse, have you maybe checked out those cakes from Magnolia Bakery? I was looking through their catalog and they have some really stunning options that aren't even that pricey, plus the designs are gorgeous. Delivery right to the restaurant is already included in the cost. Prices range from $100 to $150 depending on what you pick, so if we're splitting it four ways, the one I picked out for my godson ends up being about $200 which doesn't seem too bad to me.
