Greetings, everyone!

I am currently on the hunt for an exceptional bakery in San Francisco to design a wedding cake... I seriously need some HELP!

I honestly think I’ve stumbled onto such a brilliant idea 🙂

I actually think this one is pretty great because every single cat has its own unique little decoration—it’s all very subtle and tasteful 🙂

so I'll probably just try to DIY my own combination... 🙂

I’m a huge fan of those little mini cakes all stacked up into one big masterpiece... 😍

Wonderful. So, I suppose they just cater to every whim? Or what's the deal?

I know for a fact they'll customize stuff... like, if you show up with a photo of a cake you love (I've heard plenty of girls doing this for weddings in California), they'll whip up an exact replica for you... and the prices aren't even that crazy.👍

steelfox15 said:He had his little demands about the flavor—he was dead set on chocolate,🙂 so we basically agreed that every single tier should be identical just to avoid any drama among the guests over who got what slice. I picked out the design myself, and honestly, he ended up loving it too. We managed to hash everything out pretty quickly.🙂

Yeah, my buddy only goes for chocolate too. I don't really care, I guess.
Look, how it looks matters to me. It’s going to be done my way. 😁
And that’s how we settled it.

I mean, I’m a sucker for a Black Forest cake, personally—but honestly, chocolate works too. I just kind of let him call the shots and went with whatever he wanted.🙂

How much dessert should I get for about 80 guests?
Our moms are insisting we need 30 pounds!! That seems like way too much to me, maybe? What do you guys think?
We aren't even planning on doing a formal dessert service, just having some extra on hand if someone happens to want something.

no way in hell that much.😲
just aim for about 5 ounces per person.

Right?
Now I just have to explain that logic to our moms... good luck with that. :-)

Oh, please. Just tell them if they’ve got money to burn,
they should just order out—or better yet, bake 50 pounds of cookies themselves!
What is wrong with people???

What can I even say? 😕I guess
it's just that classic corporate nonsense where they're terrified of making a mistake, so they insist on buying everything through official company channels and all that bureaucratic junk... ugh.
If they actually have a budget for sweets, they might as well pay for me to take a crazy trip somewhere lol. 😍

Anyone here already been through the wedding planning madness who can give me some real advice on dessert catering? I need the actual numbers—like how much we ordered versus what actually got eaten, and how much ended up being wasted or left over.
thanks

Anthony Nguyen85, my math for dessert usually lands at four treats per person if we’re out at a place like Cheesecake Factory, but maybe just two per head if I'm hosting at my place—I haven't really crunched the numbers on how much that actually costs in USD or whatever, but look, this is a company that’s been churning out pastries for decades, so I’m putting my faith in their professional estimate. Even if there's a little extra left over, people will eat it, and if we run short? Honestly, I'm not losing sleep over it.

i’ve been through the whole wedding thing myself, so maybe i can help you out.....
had 150 guests and ordered about 45 pounds of sweets from the caterer—there was still plenty left sitting on plates at the tables, so yeah, people didn't finish everything.
everything came from this local boutique bakery👍, both the cake and the individual treats, and honestly? they were incredible.....they even handled all the plating for the venue and my house, plus I bought these cute little giveaway boxes from them for after the reception, and they even packed everything into those for me.
The cake was delicious—super clean and simple, since I'm not really into that tacky, over-the-top stuff. I just showed them a photo of what I wanted, but they're pretty easy to work with. I heard about them from a few other women on this forum and I'd definitely recommend them.

if you need anything else, just ask.....😉

20 kg for 150 people?! Wow, that's a massive difference from what I was planning. Did you give any away later, or was it all just for the hotel?
I'm assuming this little bakery is in Chicago 😢, so it doesn't really help me much right now!!

I forgot to mention that my estimate of 30 kg for 80 people includes the cocktail hour—you know, that gathering before the ceremony starts. 🤷
But I guess it's all basically the same thing anyway. 😕
