restlesssailor66, you were actually there and didn't grab the number? Honestly...

😉

I've got the number right here—if anyone needs it, just shoot me a DM

plus, they don't have it listed at the information desk 🙂

steelfox15 said:You can grab those containers at the Metropolitan or Walmart (if you’re talking about those clear plastic ones). Check their aisles first to see where they're hiding. I’m not one to split the cookies, but my baker told me they usually pack eight per box—though that really depends on what kind of treats you're working with. I’ll be doing standard-sized cookies, properly sliced, not those tiny little crumbs like some toddler would eat. Honestly, I think it all comes down to the type and size of the cookie; 15 ounces could mean ten rolls or just three decadent chocolate bars—it's hard to say for sure.

Hey... does anyone know the name of that bakery in Columbus??? I have a friend living there, and she mentioned stopping by to check it out before her wedding... please, please let me know!

hey everyone...
so, I’ve been on this mission to find the perfect desserts since earlier this year, so here I am...
I was reading about this bakery called Orient Manhattan (I actually drove out that way once, but I couldn't figure out what it was even near?) has anyone actually tried their treats???

What about Emma ???'s bakery?
Or maybe Peace of Cake??

If we have about 120 guests, roughly how many kilos of cake should I order??? We aren't really doing the whole "take home leftovers" thing...

thanks girls😉

Unfortunately, they don't do wedding cakes over at Orient.
We ended up ordering from Emma ??? last time, and they were absolutely delicious. 👍

It’s actually not just a little bakery—it’s a whole company based over in unknown (that's a spot just outside Indianapolis, if anyone's familiar with the area). It's called DELICIJA LLC, owned by Josip Kalabek.

I just got back from a little trip to an unknown bakery, and honestly... I think I'm in love... No, wait—I haven't even tasted the cakes or pastries yet! It was actually the catalog that caught my eye. I found these two cake stands that are just perfection because they aren't stacked directly on top of one another, which means I won't have to stress about which layer goes on bottom and which goes on top...

image

That one with the spheres isn't bad at all, though it seems a bit awkward when you're actually slicing the cake—since those little tubes holding the spheres in place have to go right through the dessert itself...

Now, this one is much more my style. Even though I'm not usually one for those super romantic, swirling flourishes, this design doesn't feel tacky at all—especially if we pair it with some minimalist cakes. It would fit beautifully with the decor over at Trajbar's place, so I'm thinking we’ll definitely go with this option...

By the way, the slices are priced at $15, $14, and $4.00 per piece—depending on which one you pick...

yessss😍😍

I'm totally on board with the second option too. Honestly, if we keep the cake simple and skip all those fancy little rose decorations or whatever, I think it’ll actually look way more elegant and romantic. 👍

That cake and the stand are gorgeous 🙏
perfect for Trajbar!
I'm low-key jealous! 😁

Just wanted to drop a few quick details about the sweets from Katica. 🥳
The price per pound $23 plus a wedding cake (Black Forest style) for 150 guests, 4 tiers - $167. ☕
My wife was honestly shocked when I told her how people on this forum keep claiming she's overpriced and listing all those crazy numbers.
Based on what she showed me, her prices are actually pretty reasonable and the pastries are delicious. 🤷

Bottom line: Katica (who, by the way, isn't even an actual Katica 😉) is just a cool, down-to-earth woman with great, affordable treats. 😛 😁

To wrap it up: 150 guests and an $500 cake ends up costing $3.25 per slice/person—which just proves my point that I was right about it being too much money if I had 250 guests$833😉
For me, the cake works out to $450, 5 tiers for 250 people
$4780 for both the cake and pastries for 250 people
I still think Katica is too expensive, and honestly, even if the price wasn't an issue, she'd have a hard time deciding because the pastries aren't quite good enough for me. They're nice, sure, but when I know there are better options out there... what can I say?

Look, it’s all subjective—what’s pricey to one person is just standard to someone else. 🤷
Everyone’s going to grab treats from whoever they want. 🤷
Back in the day, I had neighbors selling homemade sweets for about $22 a pound.
Honestly, I’d much rather just buy from Kate; I know she’s reliable, and her stuff actually tastes great. 🤷
As far as custom cakes go, I know hers are awesome and she’ll nail the exact look I’m going for.
At first, we were thinking about getting a cake from Magnolia Bakery, but man, that would’ve cost us... Not that I’d mind paying the premium, but their designs feel a bit cookie-cutter and don't really let you customize.
And I’m not even gonna argue about flavors.
What hits the spot for me might not be your thing, and vice versa. 🤷

I just wanted to drive home that point about the numbers. Honestly, I highly doubt Kate even knows this forum exists, let alone what we talk about here :P
I mean, who knows? If I had the money to just throw around without thinking twice, I’d probably just grab whatever from the first bakery that looks halfway decent just to save myself the headache. But now that I actually see the breakdown of all those costs—and realize what a single cake *actually* costs—I refuse to get ripped off (if you know what I mean). I'm always down for homemade treats, but nowadays everyone is obsessed with reading ingredient labels and nutrition facts, so that's out the window. If it weren't for that, everyone would be getting their cakes baked at my place🙂

Kate knows because I told her myself. 😂
The woman got a little bummed out, and honestly... I didn't mean for you to take it personally. 🙂I totally get the whole budgeting thing. For me, it feels stupid to throw around tiny amounts for photographers or flowers and all that stuff. And I don't need a ton of extra cake either—just a few pounds so the cake doesn't end up being way too much. 🙂

God, now I’m gonna feel so guilty that I’ll probably end up going out and buying her something just because she's upset.😢
Regarding everything else, I'm with you—I think it makes more sense to put more money toward, say, the ring, since that's something you'll actually wear on your finger for the rest of your life (okay, okay, this is getting super off-topic).
So, where are you planning on grabbing the sweets?

We’ve already got this massive dessert buffet set up with so much sugar that it feels ridiculous to buy even more stuff on top of the chocolate fountain (we've got three types of chocolate!), the chocolate hazelnut mousse, their pastries, and those fruit baskets—but every single 😁 is being stubborn about it. So, I’m just gonna grab a few pounds from Kate to keep the peace and keep everyone happy. 🙄 As for the cake, I'm not spending more than $600 on it—period. I'm drawing the line there. 😁
She lives right around the corner and she's great, so I won't bother looking anywhere else. 🙂

That young lady you ran into isn't "the" Kate, because the owner doesn't actually work the counter at the shop. She's just the person working sales there. The real Kate has a son who's in his 30s, so I highly doubt she's some young thing 😉
but honestly, it doesn't really matter—if you love the sweets, go for it!
I'm still torn between her and Tom & Ann. 😕

So I finally got around to trying those treats from Tom & Ann lately. Honestly, they have some decent stuff, but their cakes are on a whole different level. Definitely the best thing I've had in a while.www.bakery-example.com

man, I'm totally 😕 since my bestie is actually close friends with her son. anyway, maybe we aren't even talking about the same person.
the main thing is that time is running out and I'm getting even more indecisive 😠
