It's over on Kašinska Street...right across from the old citadel...just past the cemetery entrance...I'm sure you know the spot!

I pick up cookies and pastries at Dinara quite often, specifically the location in Dubrava, and they’re always excellent. 👍

Though, I’ve never actually considered them for a wedding. 🤔

Exactly... in principle, that was our only real gripe with them... they aren't exactly eye candy... but honestly, I care way more about how they taste than whether they look pretty sitting on a platter all night without anyone grabbing at least three treats from the tray... you know? I mean... let's go scout out some other dessert options just in case... but I think we've hit the nail on the head. My plan was always to do a two-tier approach anyway: one type of dessert specifically for the restaurant service and another variety meant for guests to take home or pass around.

Hehe... sure, sure... well, let me know! I just want to make sure I haven't completely lost my mind after hunting for dessert everywhere else! 🙄

I have to say, those treats from Nutrapek were actually quite tasty, but I couldn't help but wonder... if they didn't even bother putting in the effort to cut them neatly for the wedding fair, what does that say about their overall attention to detail? It makes you think about things like that, doesn't it? 🤷

steelfox15 said:Wait, so did everyone actually try the same half-pound batch, or did you grab more later? Honestly, this whole thing gives me major Jesus vibes—you know, the part where He’s out there multiplying the fish and bread. It's like, one little half-pound of cake and suddenly you, your friend, and the whole choir have had a taste🙂

Oh man, what a mess... just absolutely wild...

I had the exact same thought—mostly because I know if that half-pound of treats is left sitting out, I’ll end up devouring the whole thing myself... alone... 🤣

So, we ended up overindulging quite a bit; we visited Sugar yesterday, and I honestly don't know if I can ever recover... my wife insisted on us trying everything, piling our plates with every single type of cookie she had available, two of each kind... goodness, I truly cannot decide which one was superior or more delicious, as they were all perfectly uniform, cut into identical little squares, and to top it all off, you even get some extra for free... I am still reeling from it, and it was the primary topic of conversation for us last night. On Monday, I have a meeting to finalize details for a crisis management seminar, while my cousin is planning her wedding, which is going to be $25 pounds, and the cakes there look absolutely wonderful too, at least based on the photos we saw... you really should try that specific combination, they are truly lovely

Hey ladies! As you can probably tell, I’m the new girl on the block. To be honest, I’ve never been much of a fan of commercial bakeries or those big-chain pastry shops—mostly because they seem to rely on one generic base batter and just pump in different artificial flavorings to make everything seem "new." It results in every single dessert having that exact same, artificial aftertaste. However, I do know this wonderful woman in my neighborhood who makes incredible homemade treats. She handles all the catering for local weddings, christenings, and big family celebrations around town. The best part about her baking? She absolutely refuses to cut corners on ingredients. Everything looks stunning, but the flavor is even better. Once I get my hands on some goodies for Easter, I'll make sure to snap some photos and share them with you all.

If you don't mind me asking, what kind of prices are we talking about?

I’ve officially decided to skip Sugar... the reason is quite simple... they only offer six varieties of pastries, and frankly, I’ve already found something much better...
I actually met two women who bake their own homemade treats. In fact, my friend and I were being so cheeky that we started picking favorites based on which baker we liked more!
But honestly, I’m going to buy from both of them anyway. We were originally planning on mixing different kinds, so now I don't even have to stress about choosing which one was superior! 😁

They're located over in Brooklyn, at 72 Queens St. I'll DM you the phone number

Omg, can someone please hook me up with their number? I am searching everywhere and coming up totally empty... also, do you think they'd do a delivery service? Like, if the wedding isn't happening right here in Washington, D.C.?

omg, I am so happy to hear that! we actually tried some pastries from this lady who usually does the stuff for The Great Gatsby, and honestly? they were just okay, nothing to write home about, pretty mediocre, so now I'm hunting for a new option. and don't even get me started on the cake... just thick, super dry sponge with this heavy parfait—again, totally mid, though edible I guess. anyway, the pastries are the most important thing to me so I'd love to find somewhere else, but I just can't find Sweetheart online anywhere. plus, I don't see a registered business listed in the Washington, D.C. area. if anyone could drop a phone number, I would be so incredibly grateful!

The price is $28/lb. Honestly, the best part about having someone bake for you—someone who actually knows your tastes—is that you can just tell her, "Hey, I want this, that, and that," and she makes it happen. It's such a luxury. Personally, I absolutely loathe it when people try to sell me those cheap assortments where it's 80% dry, crumbly cookies and barely any of the good stuff with the cream filling.

Man, I love Cukeraj. Honestly, they've been on my mind more and more lately 🙂.
