Seriously, what's the damage for a wedding cake? My venue is quoting me roughly $267 for a setup meant for about 20 guests. Is that overkill? 🤷

That’s $13 per person. Usually, you're looking at $10-$5.00 a slice... I suppose the unit price drops when you scale up, but honestly? Seems overpriced.

I'm gonna bring some cupcakes... they're $3.25 a piece... $267 honestly, for 20 people, that's just overkill

That’s way too much! 👎 It honestly feels like double what most places charge on average.

It’s not just a lot—it’s way too much
You should definitely look for a cake somewhere else

Thanks, ladies. I had the same feeling—it seemed way overpriced, but I honestly didn't have any idea what cake prices usually look like
The restaurant we booked is pretty high-end and the menu is pricier than most places, which explains the cake cost. Still, for just 20 people, it feels like overkill. We’re going to go with a different option instead.

After spending quite a bit of time digging through all your suggestions and doing my own research, I’ve made my final call: we're going with Fancy cake at Kruga. $33/lb is the price per pound, which is definitely on the pricier side compared to your local neighborhood bakeries, but since we won't be ordering massive quantities, the extra cost is worth it for us.

I have already ordered pastries and cakes from the local bakery, so we will likely pick up the wedding sweets there as well (the cake itself is included in our restaurant package). As for Absolut, their dessert prices seem to be the most affordable, though I am not particularly fond of them; perhaps two or three varieties would suffice (you can find them at Walmart if you want to sample them first).

A colleague recently brought in some bite-sized cookies from Crumbl, and I have to say, they were absolutely delicious 👍 so I think they’ll most likely be my top choice for the wedding

Just wanted to give a quick shout-out to Monica’s Bakery... we ended up ordering 130 mini cakes, one smaller cake, and about 45 pounds of pastries today—and the whole thing came out to just $963... plus, she hooked us up with a $67 discount, which I seriously wasn't expecting... 👍
Oh, and one more thing—those mini cakes are actually $3.00, not $3.25 like I said before

That sounds like a pretty fair price to me. I'd love to see some photos of those treats! 😉

On another note, I've decided to stop overthinking this and stop stressing myself and my partner out. Here is the final plan:
Around 120-130 guests
Vincent's bakery—one large cake with 150 slices
A local bakery—20 kg of assorted pastries
That's it. 🙂

ruggedtrucker16, how much is a cake costing you at Vincent's lately? And which one are you actually going to get?

ruggedtrucker16, I already posted them, but here they are again just in case

the only little tweak on my end will be using five-pointed stars on the cupcakes—since that's the whole theme we went with for the invites, place cards, and all that other stuff...

honestly, though, I think the final price is pretty decent... I definitely wasn't expecting that discount

Donna Chase12: That’s absolutely adorable. 😍

Daniel Smith8: We’re doing 150 slices of cake spread over three tiers. Each tier is square with a firm white glaze and a purple ribbon around the edge, plus some purple accents—I actually pulled the inspiration from that one cake in the "Purple" thread. The bottom layer is chocolate fudge, the middle is Black Forest, and the top is a parfait cake. Total comes to $500 including $20 for delivery.

Yeah... they're sweet... thanks
And honestly, the price for that cake over at Vincent's is pretty decent too👍

Quick update for everyone, especially for Daniel Smith8 — those cupcakes were absolute perfection. Seriously, way better than that cake we grabbed at the local bakery, mostly because that thing didn't even have real frosting or a dark chocolate rim... everyone was raving about them, even the owner of Traiber himself. And man, they looked incredible—the frosting was laid on so smooth you’d think someone used a level to do it.😍

Oh yeah... and ladies, maybe go easy on the sweets next time... out of the 20kg I ordered, I've still got like 10kg left over. There was just way too much food, and honestly, nobody was really hitting the dessert table hard enough.

How many people did you tell her was coming?

122... man, there is seriously so much food left over that I’m actually feeling a little guilty about the wasted cash... I mean, look, the truth is we didn't even sit down for dinner until 9 PM, so that definitely played a part—people just ended up with way too much on their plates all at once... but anyway, whatever the reason, just a heads-up: don't order more than like half a pound per person

Waiting on you, dear 🙂

Thanks for the heads-up. I’ll definitely swing by Monica’s to sample those pastries. And thanks for the tip on the cookies, though I've already made up my mind—I'm capping it at about a pound per person.
How did your guests react to the cakes? Did they actually enjoy them, or did you end up with a mountain of leftovers?

Right, thanks. Just tell me how many different types of dessert you had. Personally, I can handle five different kinds if it stays around half a pound per person, otherwise I was actually thinking about adding another ten pounds just to account for the variety... 🙄
