If this cake wasn't actually a gift, I’d probably be totally seduced by those little individual treats too. Or honestly, I might just be bold enough to ask her if she could make a batch just for me, right? 😛Since my wedding is basically going to be a series of "firsts" anyway, I might as well check this off the list while I'm at it!
Donna Chase12, tell me, was one of those mini cakes per person really enough? I think you mentioned somewhere that people were asking for seconds, wasn't that it? And did you include the little ones in your count?
Basically, if you had about 120 guests, how many of those minis did you end up ordering?
By the way, is the price for a hundred mini cakes roughly the same as a tiered cake for a hundred people? I don't want to accidentally offend her by asking if the cost is similar! 🤣

Ugh, I feel like I’ve already covered all this, but whatever—here goes nothing, just for you guys... let's run through it again😉
I ordered 130 mini cupcakes and one big cake for a crowd of 122 people... honestly, nobody even touched the main cake. We only had one kid under ten there, and we were counting them as part of the headcount... though if there'd been more kids, we probably would've counted them too
The price for those little cupcakes was $3.00 per unit, and from what I recall, a slice of the main cake was somewhere around $5.00(10-
) And yeah... none of my guests had ever seen or tasted these specific treats before, so they were pretty much obsessed—they thought they were super cool and totally delicious

Did anyone actually say there wasn't enough, or even ask for more? I'm thinking specifically about those little pastries, since you mentioned that whole big cake ended up being left over...

Look, I actually asked the restaurant manager if people even knew there were seconds available... some folks ate up, others had no clue—but honestly, that’s not on me. Not every server bothered to mention it to the guests...
I mean, look at it this way—imagine you've got a standard cake... do you have enough volume to give every single customer two helpings, or what?

My sister and I are really digging that cake concept—if we can find something similar, I think that's exactly what we'll go with.😁
I actually found a photo online a while back, and then I spotted a similar style on an American bakery site called Sweet Secrets.

I mean, they’ll probably fill up on the main course anyway, and they’ve got plenty of cookies too... If I knew the exact headcount ahead of time, I’d definitely order about ten more servings plus that sliced cake. Oh, and regarding those photos, you guys just cut up that smaller one, right?

Don't worry about the food... girls, seriously—there will be plenty to eat 🤣
. We actually sliced into that cake from the top of the stand... it looked pretty much identical to that photo I posted a few pages back

Donna Chase12 said:We actually planned for a much smaller turnout, which worked out perfectly for us... honestly, a huge chunk of my girls were either pregnant or dealing with tiny newborns, plus you had the older crowd, people living overseas, folks missing out due to surgeries, illnesses, or family deaths—and some just didn't show because I couldn't make it up to them either... basically, hitting 122 guests was a win in our book... and I didn't even have a final headcount until like two days before the wedding
Daniel Smith8, we didn't even count any new partners or people who weren't really "official" yet... if we had, that number would've jumped by another 30 or so people
and yeah—don't forget to factor in the band, the photographer, the videographer...

Look, I’m counting, whatever happens, happens. If they bring a plus-one, great. If not, also great.
The band, the photographer, and the videographer are already included in my count.

If I'm having cupcakes, I'll definitely grab about ten extra mini cakes. We're going to eat the big cake ourselves, so there will be more minis for the guests, and maybe a slice of the big one will be left over for later at home.🙂

silverscout91 said:Daniel Smith8, if I recall correctly, you were asking about Orizent. I just wanted to mention that they don't really do traditional wedding cakes or sell sweets by the pound. Instead, they offer four varieties of mini cookies, two types of pastry baskets—one chocolate and one fruit-based—and four different kinds of small creamy pastries. The price for the mini cookies is $1.25 per piece, while those cream pastries go for $3.25 each.

I did, but I wouldn't bother asking them about cookies. I need a cake. Do you happen to have their number?

I wasn't really looking to factor in those flashy, high-end followers either—mostly because my chair was way too expensive to be playing social experiments with random strangers. I mean, sure, I've had some decent engagement from people who aren't exactly "influencers," but they weren't exactly pulling any massive numbers for the seat, either... but whatever, totally irrelevant to what we're talking about here

Oh, and one more thing... for some reason, the cupcakes were actually way better than the actual cake. I honestly have no clue why...🤷

Probably just because there’s more sludge around them. Always happens that way. 😂

nah, not really... they’ve all got that shallow vibe—kind of like a massive sheet cake—but honestly? They actually had a way better flavor profile than these

Look, we aren't really looking for any whipped cream on this cake
we want two different chocolate drizzles—dark and white

It’s not even really whipped cream (my bad, misspoken earlier)—more like a light mousse—but the flavor hits like this perfect blend of vanilla and airy cream... if that makes any sense
Anyway, it doesn't even matter... everyone’s just going to whip up whatever kind of cake they want, however they want it... for us and our guests, what we made was absolutely spot on😍

The cookies at Katini's are good, but she makes her own homemade batch over at Dunkin'

Check out Anđelović Bakery over in Brooklyn. They make authentic, homemade cakes and pastries.
$25They offer free delivery and packaging on any cake you choose, and the prices are really reasonable.

Here’s a few more ideas for those teen birthday cakes if you're looking for inspiration

Honestly, back when I was living in Vatican City, I tried pretty much everything they made—cakes, pastries, the whole nine yards—and I was totally stoked with what they turned out 👍

Hey ladies... My wedding is coming up on February 13th! I'm having my dessert catering brought in from the Midwest, even though the big day is happening in Washington, D.C., so I was wondering if I could ask a quick favor—does anyone know where I can pick up those cute little bride and groom cake toppers? T H A N K S :-P

Best regards,
I wonder if you might be able to tell me roughly what their wedding cake prices look like... just a ballpark figure, if possible?
