First off, I gotta say that my parents are honestly wonderful people. They’ve given me everything in life and they still support me whenever I need it. I know I can always turn to them for anything at all.
BUT, why on earth do they feel the need to micromanage my entire existence??? I’m always down to hear their advice, but there’s a line, and they just keep crossing it...
So, my mom came to this "brilliant" conclusion that the smartest move would be for me to slowly get my dog used to her, so that over the next few months, they basically take full ownership while I just step in occasionally.😲😲😲 This is my dog—my absolute heart and soul—and they know how much she means to me. Even though I keep shutting the idea down and telling them it’s absolutely out of the question—because hey, I’m not the only person who’s ever been pregnant with a pet, and this is totally manageable—she just won't let it go...
And then, the absolute kicker was something my dad said that actually left me in tears... He had the nerve to tell me that I’d end up loving my dog more than my own child one day.😢 Like, seriously, what is wrong with them? It’s like they think I’m some kind of idiot who can’t distinguish between the love for a kid and the love for a dog.
In the end, I just told them straight up that it's not happening. The dog stays with me. Once she finally learns not to pull on the leash (which she’s actually started working on!), my dad will take her for walks, and I’ll handle the trips where I can let her off-leash in open areas.🙂
