slybadger99 said:-How on earth is your belly already that big at five months?

-What about you, how’s your bump looking?

-Mine looks pretty standard to me, nothing crazy.

-My stomach has basically become a public landmark at this point. I don't mind when my girlfriends, my grandma, or my family reach out to touch it, but if some random, unpleasant lady at Target tries to grab my belly, I swear I might actually bite her hand off!

-Based on the shape, I'm convinced I'm carrying a boy—and honestly, I am so not ready for all the drool.🤮

🙂🙂

Don't you dare be disrespectful to my mother like that 🙂

"So, any updates?" / "Is there any news yet?"
Yeah... I gave birth three weeks ago, but honestly, I'm just feeling completely exhausted and wiped out...

Actually, I completely blanked on that question too.

I'm pretty sure you've got two in there, though—it’s hard to ignore, especially considering that part of your post about having a massive belly.

😂 If there are really this many people out there with massive beer bellies, doesn't that just make us the definition of average? 😁

So, I was at my checkup today. After the ultrasound, the doctor handed me a paper towel to wipe up, so I did my thing, pulled my panties back on, and let my dress drop. Then it hits me—I totally forgot to wipe the bottom half of my stomach since it was out of my line of sight, and I had basically smeared myself everywhere. 🙄

Honestly, this kind of stuff drives me nuts. Between that and the fact that I can't go for a run or even wrestle around with my pug anymore—now I’m stuck with these slow, old-person walks.

Oh, and while we're at it, I want to report the chaos at the express lane at Whole Foods. I was just there with one single juice. Does anyone actually know how this is supposed to work? Am I supposed to announce to everyone that I'm pregnant so they let me skip, or should I just cut in front of people and take the first spot? Or are the people who aren't disabled, pregnant, or elderly just supposed to sense my presence and move aside? I have no clue, and clearly, neither does the crowd of people standing in front of me...

People don't see you—their backs are turned—and the cashiers don't either. My approach is to walk up to the very next person in line and politely ask, "Excuse me, is this the maternity lane?" 😍
Basically, yeah, I skip twenty people waiting in the main line and go straight to the register. Those folks have to wait, and honestly, they shouldn't complain since they're in the wrong lane anyway. ☕No one is going to turn you away; some might give you a dirty look, but most people follow the rules.
But DON'T just sit there waiting for people to notice you and let you pass. Don't. 🙂

Why on earth wouldn't you want to know the gender??? Is the concept even foreign to you? Are you people alright?

Every single reaction is identical whenever we say we aren't interested in knowing...

And then comes the inevitable bewilderment. 🙄🙄

Good grief, this drives me absolutely insane!!! I've heard that one so many times, but usually just from old ladies at church. 🙂

Around here, most people actually ask because they think the whole point is the surprise, so why wouldn't you want to find out early?

Look, we aren't going to tell you or anyone else once we finally figure it out..

And besides, we need to know too.☕

The typical "expert" parent lecture: "just you wait," "you won't be able to pull this off," "back in my day, things weren't like this," or just straight-up condescension. 🙄

And honestly? It’s ten times more annoying when it comes from couples whose own kids have zero discipline.

It’s like they think my kid is suffering through some massive tragedy, and they're using every ounce of energy they have to try and talk me out of my chill approach. 👎

Ugh, I get those kinds of threats too, and I really don't understand why other people feel the need to manage my life. And I honestly don't get what they mean by "you won't be able to." Like, what am I supposed to do? Start a shootout? 😂 If someone told me they were living paycheck to paycheck in a tiny studio apartment in downtown Chicago, I would probably just say, "Hey, you'll figure it out," and maybe offer some help or a suggestion if I could. But it seems like people just don't want to see others doing well!🙂

Totally agree. Sure, experience matters, and you shouldn't just ignore advice from people who have been through the trenches.
But at the same time, I constantly run into these "urban legends" that get passed down like they're gospel truth. 😁

Every baby is different, and every parent is different too.

My favorite is when they start with the horror stories: "Just wait until you realize you won't get more than three hours of sleep..."

Newsflash: I've been getting about three hours of sleep a night for the last month because insomnia has been kicking my ass lately, and I'm still functioning mostly fine. I steal an hour here and there during the day and still manage to get my remote work done.

🤣

Ugh, I know exactly how you feel 😘
I'm actually on antibiotics right now because my gums are so inflamed. Honestly, I haven't slept a wink in two nights because of the pain. Aaaaaah, someone please tell me there's an end to this kind of ache! 🙂

I I also find it kind of funny when people ask me, "So, have you guys officially decided on the baby's name yet?" As if there’s some sort of official ceremony required for it!!🙂🙂
It's not like I'm going to rent out a massive theater in Times Square and make a formal announcement in front of a huge crowd of witnesses!
Honestly, it just strikes me as pretty wild how many people in my life seem so deeply invested in the specific name I end up choosing.😵

When people pry about the gender, I simply state that I have decided on having a girl, so that’s what will happen. It shuts them down immediately; they lose their footing and change the subject. If they ask about names, I give a curt "we haven't decided yet" and pivot the conversation. I am exhausted by the unsolicited advice...

As for the constant "just you wait," we could probably start an entire thread on that trope.
We are heading out to dinner tonight... I fully expect to be bombarded with those "just you wait" comments. I just endure it, playing the fool, until their own condescension eventually trips them up.😈😛

And frankly, the most obnoxious "just you wait" crowd consists of people with poorly raised children.☕

Look at this girl cleaning her room and prepping all her gear like she’s about to go into labor or something.

Did you even ask if she actually has anything useful to contribute? 🤣🤣🤣

My mom is also planning on buying a full nursery setup just to cram it into my old room...🤣 I had to explain that unless she plans on raising the baby herself, a portable travel crib is more than enough for occasional babysitting.🤣

Meanwhile, my mother-in-law seems convinced she's moving in with me once the baby arrives... lol... the delusions are real.

Other pregnant women and their "helpful" advice... the other day, my friend goes: Oh my god, how are you even feeling nauseous? I feel totally fine, maybe you're just making it up so everyone will baby you 🙂
YEAH, I TOTALLY MADE UP VOMITING 🙂

To all my fellow moms-to-be,
Where do I even start with this🙂
Yesterday at Walmart, the summer crowds were absolutely insane. Being seven months along, I spotted that big sign stating that pregnant women and people with disabilities get priority. Naturally, I headed toward one of the registers and politely asked the cashier if pregnant women were given precedence. She just gave me this cold, blank stare and snapped, "Why specifically at this register?" When I asked her which one I should use then, she just shrugged and said, "I don't know, go ask someone else." I was absolutely livid, and honestly, pretty embarrassed by the crowd watching me like I was some kind of zoo exhibit. So, I just gave up and joined the regular line.
This is exactly why women will never run the world. If this is how women treat one another, imagine what the rest of the world is like.

On another note, I’ve only gained about 9 pounds in seven months—probably due to the stress of moving, wedding planning, and everything else going on. Now, everyone has suddenly decided to act concerned and starts shaking their heads at me. I don't see how helpful that is; I've seen people gain 35, 40, or even 45 pounds. If my OB-GYN isn't worried, why is everyone else acting like there's a crisis?

Haha, that’s definitely one for the books. Pure jealousy, probably. Maybe she didn't put on as much weight as you did, while she was packing on pounds like a pig during her pregnancy. 😁

I’m basically psyching myself up for my next trip to Walmart. I’m ready to absolutely lose it on the customers, the cashiers, even the CEO if they try to block my way or throw some stupid comment my way 🙂
honestly, part of me is almost looking forward to them being jerks to me 😁

It drives me insane hearing the same question over and over this week: "When are you switching to 3D?" Like, never 🙂 people act like it's not even an option. Newsflash: it exists, but apparently, it's only available for women who have gone completely mute, just like me.
