Wi-Fi booster/extender recommendations?

Because I’ve got two walls standing in the way, my Wi-Fi signal is pretty weak in one particular room—and I've heard there's such a thing as signal boosters to fix that.
Could anyone point me toward a specific model that actually delivers on its promise to boost the signal?
I’m asking because I really don't want to rush out and buy something that turns out to be a total waste of money.

Honestly, nothing beats a hardwired LAN cable. It’s the gold standard unless you’re stuck using a tablet or smartphone that just won't play nice with wires.
That "booster" gadget you're looking at? It’s really just a repeater. It basically grabs whatever weak signal it can find through all the interference and tries to rebroadcast it. Because of that, you're usually looking at speeds that are at least half as fast as if you were sitting right next to the router on a PC.
If the computer in that room is running a cheap USB Wi-Fi dongle without an actual antenna, you should probably swap it out for something beefier—like a TP-Link model with a dedicated external antenna. Having that physical antenna can boost your signal strength by up to 20 dB, which is huge.
