Managed to snag 4 tracks from the new Willard Grant Conspiracy album
Sounds a bit like Nick Cave on first listen, but honestly, mostly good stuff!
Anyone finished the whole thing yet? I'm dying for some feedback, so hit me with your thoughts!

Now it sounds a bit like Cave... hmm... have you actually checked out any other Willard Grant albums??
To be honest, Fisher's voice is super similar to Caveov, but in my humble opinion, that's pretty much the only thing they have in common

I actually finalized the deal for Smog for October 6th myself two months ago—only to have the agency tell me last month they decided to run Smog through Nick Hobbs instead because he can squeeze out a better fee. It's a ridiculous move, primarily because I hadn't even discussed finances with the agency yet; they didn't even realize what we were prepared to pay... Since Nick Hobbs works with Mudhoney, Multi-Cultural, and White in Chicago, I assume he's planning to book them at a venue like the Metro, but I also suspect his terms will be totally unrealistic. In the end, Smog probably won't even play here because of him...
After this mess with 13artists, and most other British agencies for that matter, I'm done dealing with them... Luckily, there are still a few solid German promoters out there...

jupi🙂 I'm hoping the Willard Grant Conspiracy set turns out to be better live than that tedious Fisher solo show. (I heard from people it was pretty dull—I ended up getting so wasted that I slept through half the concert in a corner seat at KSET😁)

Robert Fisher refreshed the Willard site yesterday... I have to admit, reading this actually warmed my heart a bit...

Although, for some reason beyond my comprehension, we were unable to find a place to play in Ljubljana this time around, I am hoping that this show will allow us to get to see some of our friends in Canada as well. I know it is a bit of a drive but I hope people will make the trip. KSET is a great club and I believe this will be a very unique evening."

Actually, what I meant was that the vocals sound purely like Cave. I didn't express myself very well there. As for the rest of Willard's stuff, I haven't listened to it yet. I'm guessing they all sound pretty much like this latest one.

Come on, KSET crowd, how was it?

Was there much of a turnout?
How was the performance?
Did Fisher manage to fit through the door, or did you have to tear down the doorframe?

A little friendly advice: since Tuesday shows always seem to be great, maybe you should just move the start time to 9:00 AM. That way, you can be certain nobody from outside downtown Chicago will show up. 😠 😠 😛

Look, maybe I’m not being the most objective guy here, but man, that concert was pure genius. The sound was spot on, the crowd was incredible... about 350 people deep, all bringing the energy...

Honestly, this might just go down as one of the better shows we've ever seen at KSET

Subjective opinion aside, that concert was killer. Easily one of the best shows in an incredibly tough lineup.

.. and on top of that, the club wasn't freezing cold for once...

... and don't even get me started on the sound quality... whoever was behind the board deserves a massive raise...

It was great, really good...
I picked up the 'Regard the end is The First Willard Grant' CD right after the show—been spinning it lately—and I’m feeling it. Some of those tracks hit way harder live because of how much heart they put into them; honestly, it moved me way more than just listening to the record first.
Really solid stuff, all around.
