So...
The first day of my last period was March 25th, but I had sex on March 11th
My period was supposed to start on April 22nd, so a couple days ago I tried a Clearblue test. It was four days after my expected date (though I didn't take it first thing in the morning, just later in the day) and it came back negative
Today is already the 6th day since I was due... I'm noticing some increased white discharge, and while I wouldn't call them "cramps," I am feeling a tiny bit of discomfort in my abdomen...
I'm wondering if that last time we had sex was actually right during ovulation or what?
Also... how reliable is the test I used?
When would be the best time to test again? Is it too early to try again today?
Thanks in advance
😘
OVULATION—unless you know exactly when you ovulated, we can't really tell here on the forum. The general rule is fourteen days before your next period starts, but honestly, plenty of women don't ovulate then—they ovulate on totally different days. Believe me. I personally conceived just two days after my period ended, and my cycle is about 30 days long...
MORNING URINE—if the instructions say to use your first urine of the day, then you really should have waited until the morning to test. There are tests out there designed to work any time of day, but they tend to be a bit more expensive—like those $10 ones you find at CVS.
WHEN TO RE-TEST—you can generally take a test at least 19 days after conception, but it really depends on the specific brand. Personally, I think you could probably test again today.
DISCHARGE—regarding that white discharge—it’s possible you might have a yeast infection, so maybe check in with your doctor.
ABDOMINAL PAIN—stomach cramps can be anything from pregnancy or PMS to just being stressed out...
TEST RELIABILITY—for the most part, all the major brands you find in the US are perfectly fine since they all work on the same basic principle.
