Hi there!

We held our wedding at Lida, so we ordered all the desserts directly from them.
The sweets were phenomenal! It’s hard to believe, but almost everyone ate every single one—well, not *everyone*, but certainly way more than I anticipated.
The cake was also theirs, and it was absolutely stunning. I coordinated the design and flavors with the pastry chef, and—as far as I could manage to explain over the phone—she nailed the look perfectly; it was chocolate-based.
We went with a chocolate mousse featuring strawberry bits for one tier and a fruit parfait for the other. Honestly, the cake was incredible. I ended up having two slices myself—I would have skipped the entire dinner if it meant more cake. Hands down, the best chocolate cake I've ever had!

For the dessert boxes to take home, we picked up some treats from the Democratic Party in Chicago. They were just as delicious. We grabbed an assortment of petit fours—they come in those little variety packs where you get a bit of everything in miniature form. We’ve actually been back there a few times since the wedding just to grab more sweets, because they really are that good!

Jeffrey Barnes16 said:I really have to give a shout-out to Walmart. They were an absolute lifesaver at the eleventh hour—especially after my total meltdown involving a former pastry chef who decided to change our entire agreement just three days before the wedding. Honestly, I was right on the verge of a nervous breakdown because of it. Anyway... everyone was raving about the desserts, and I actually found myself heading back there for more sweets even after the big day was over. Now, finally, I can embrace the extra pounds without any guilt. 😉

👍

honestly, they're the absolute best 😍

Actually, they won't let you fly under the radar unless you have a registered business and can issue an invoice 👍

The hotel is going to handle the desserts for us. We’ve hosted a few parties there before, and honestly, their catering is top-tier.
We need to put in a special order for the wedding cake, though.
The plan is to have one smaller chocolate wedding cake, and then let the hotel whip up a few other mini cakes for everyone.
Maybe something cherry, ice cream, fruit-based, or even a cheesecake style.

Quick question for the group. I know you can grab those standard bride and groom figurines at any local bakery, but does anyone know where I can find a better selection if I want to buy them separately? I'm looking for something a little more... unconventional. 🙂

I think there might be some suggestions for pajamas a few posts back 😉

I believe if you check out an old Pier 1 or maybe hit up a local farmers market in a place like Seattle, you could probably find those little figurines and cake toppers. I haven't actually gone looking for them myself, though.

Look, I know, I saw them 🙂 but that’s just not what I’m looking for 😛

I'll probably check out those few shops if my bank account lets me (right now, I'm strictly on a spending freeze 😢 )

Hey everyone,
does anyone know where I can rent a chocolate fountain for a wedding in San Francisco?

Check with a local catering company. They usually carry them...

I’m not sure if you guys have a Target nearby, but they were having a sale on them just now. You could grab two different kinds of chocolate for $74.
Yeah, Nathan Cox25 and I are totally on the same page about this 😁.

So, what’s the actual deal with the cake scene in Seattle right now? Where can I find the absolute best ones? And honestly—how much of a head start should I be giving myself if I want to actually snag something good before they're all gone?

The wedding wasn't even in the States. But man, the cake looked perfect—it’s just that the flavor was... meh. I attached a photo, maybe someone can use it for inspiration!
My own cake was from a little shop in Napa (near the Island of Manhattan), though it didn't look nearly as good as this one, at least. But the taste? A total ten out of ten. 👍
They made it like this:

And this is the photo I gave them: 😁

Thanks. 🙂 I mean, she’s gorgeous in her own way, but she looks nothing like the photo I gave her.

Raymond Martinez4, honestly, I think my own list is even more pathetic than that one you posted from your buddy 😉

It’s incredibly similar, though if I’m being honest, yours is actually a bit more beautiful to me... 😁
