swiftmason9 said:Hey, I know you all have already shared how many treats you ended up going through per person. But, true to form, I’ve got a few more questions 😬 Were those numbers just for the reception area, or were they meant for party favors too? We actually decided against doing favor boxes this time (finally made a decision, haha), so I'm trying to figure out how much dessert we should grab for a hall with about 100 guests. It's easy enough to handle at home, but planning for a venue like this is stressing me out... so please, if anyone has any advice, let me know 🙂

The bakery where we booked our desserts told us to go with 3-4 pieces per person, so that's what we did. On top of that, we grabbed 13 kg of cookies—all for about 200 guests. That means 800 individual pieces plus the 13 kg of cookies, plus the wedding cake, plus a free standard cake they threw in. And even then, they told us it was probably way too much.

Thanks so much 😘
I think I’ll settle on grabbing about 30 pounds or so, which should be just about right. Plus a cake. And maybe a little extra just to be safe... 😁

I’m still absolutely reeling from Saturday’s wedding reception—honestly, I haven't quite processed it all yet—and I have to say, those pastries from Kansas City were an absolute solid 10 out of 10.🙏 🙏 🙏 Every single dessert was a visual masterpiece, but more importantly, the flavors were nothing short of divine.😍

So, I grabbed like 2kg of pastries from Kansas City this past Friday for a birthday bash. While I was out, I checked in with some other local spots since I’m thinking about using them for a wedding later on—they're super easy to work with and honestly just delicious. The guy told me that if you're feeding around 170 people, you'll probably need about 35kg for the buffet. For my little group, we did maybe 5 or 6kg, and you can always do custom sizes for guest boxes if you want. He mentioned they do cakes too, though I’m not really sure how their cakes stack up. If anyone knows, let me know.
I was also thinking about checking out Meli's Bakery. I haven't actually tried their stuff yet, but I've heard nothing but good things. Would love to hear what you guys think. 🙂

There's a bakery right by the turnaround in San Diego (in that gray building facing the loop), I think they might still have some left over

We ordered a massive cake intended for 90 people, and somehow we still have about a third left over. As for the sweets—15 kg of pastries—we’re down to just about 1 kg. We also had 5 kg of savory biscuits, and there's exactly one lonely piece remaining. 🤣 I'm actually going to try one of those three cakes tomorrow; there's hardly anything left, especially since guests were greeted with two warm, cheese-filled pastries upon arrival... sort of like mini savory turnovers. There were roughly 150 people in attendance. We didn't bother packing up leftovers for people to take home, though; that isn't really the custom here in the States.

I need a 1st birthday cake for my nephew by this FRIDAY! I can't find a single bakery in Washington, D.C. that can pull this off with only three days' notice. I already called Vince, Meli, Kasnar, and the rest—they all require at least a week's lead time, and I didn't even realize I needed to order one until today. Where can I actually get a cake around here? I'm losing my mind.

If you give The Cookie Jar, I’m not entirely certain if they can pull it off within a three-day window, but their cakes look absolutely phenomenal—especially those birthday treats for kids, judging by the photos they post. We were actually looking to order a wedding cake from them, but moving forward, we’ll likely be turning to them for all our birthday celebrations and such.
Do you happen to have the link to their site? It was right before this one 😉

A bit of an off-topic tangent here (😳 )—are you originally from the San Jose area? We really ought to finally coordinate that local coffee meetup we’ve been discussing... perhaps we could grab a drink after catching up at Time

I am, I definitely am...😬 We absolutely have to make this happen! All the Goričanka fans together!

P.S. Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, was at the dentist getting a wisdom tooth pulled today so I just logged on now.. 😬

If you want the best pastries and cakes in Washington, D.C., go to M&M in the suburbs.
www.mim.hr I don't have the exact street address handy, but it's on their site. They made the wedding pastries for us—the Minions were $32 pounds, but they were flawless. We got a variety mix at $28 per pound, and we even packed up some dry treats for the guests to take home. The cake was massive: five tiers total, three Black Forest and two parfait layers. Our guests swore they’d never had anything better.
Price is $333.

That cake they served at the wedding was absolutely divine🙏 🙏... something like chocolate-vanilla... seriously, finger-licking good.🙏.
From here on out, I'm buying everything from them.😍

They’re honestly so cute and would look absolutely perfect with your theme color! 🙂
