Dealing with depression in Health ·
Carol Roberts77 said:I'm not sure where the best place to ask this is, but I think I might be dealing with some serious depression. I honestly don't know how to tell for sure.

I can't recall the exact URL off the top of my head, but if you try searching Google for "depression test" or something similar, you should be able to find an online screening tool. These can help determine if what you're experiencing aligns with clinical depression. If the results suggest that's the case, please reach out to your doctor.

I actually found one for you here:

Is drinking distilled water safe? in Health ·
Charles Thompson12 said:What actually happens if someone drinks distilled water? Some people claim it's harmless, while others argue it causes electrolyte imbalances that could be fatal. Any insight? Thanks.

It all comes down to how much you're drinking! 😁 😉

(Water is water; as long as there isn't beer involved, it's perfectly fine 😉 )

I believe you mean a CRP test (not CPR).

Yes, it’s entirely possible to prove only what was specifically requested. There are standard tests used to identify the most common culprits. Anything outside those parameters requires a specific search. (Furthermore, just because they couldn't isolate a particular bacterium doesn't mean it wasn't there—it might simply mean the isolation and culture process failed.)

Next time, please sit down with the doctor and clearly explain your concerns regarding your wife and her health.

Well, I expect there won't be any cause for worry and everything will turn out just fine. 🙂

Could you please double-check the account balance? It looks like something is missing.

Does anyone know to what extent this is actually recommended or discouraged?

I don't see how it would harm a healthy adult... The only real question is whether there's any actual benefit.

Perhaps shadowfalcon33 could provide some actual arguments to back up those claims?

..but you're talking nonsense. He's the damn man who saved psychiatry. It's just that everyone else lacks the guts, the strength, or the brains to actually wrap their heads around his ideas... but that’s beside the point.

His ideas?! Does he even have any?
Saved psychiatry? How exactly? By being lazy, I assume. In any civilized country, for that matter, Gruden would be at an unemployment office rather than a medical school.

You could have easily started this thread over in the natural science section.

Anyway, what does my physics teacher think about this whole line of reasoning regarding atoms?

Oh sure, because you definitely know way more about genetics than Dr Radman does... 🙄

A good chunk of this talk about healthy eating is nothing more than pure propaganda and urban legends. For instance, what exactly is supposed to be harmful about pork?

Or take one of these topics—it even uses the term "immunoprotectors" right in the headline. I mean... what is that even supposed to mean? 😕

Gentlemen,
I am asking you—please, have some restraint. (And I think we all know exactly who I’m talking about)
Can we please try to maintain a bit of decency and tolerance?

Thank you,

Yeah, they definitely took "that" from him. 😁
The donor cards you're talking about are pretty informal, and honestly, they aren't strictly necessary. Because of pushback from family and friends, doctors usually hesitate to act even when the permissive law allows them to (meaning, a donor is anyone who hasn't explicitly stated otherwise throughout their life). That’s why I still think those cards are useful—they might give a doctor the hint they need that the deceased would have wanted their body to help save someone else's life.
Homeopathy: Yay or Nay? in Health ·
hiddenviper9 said:The naive ones fall for it—they've forgotten that plenty of people today have inherited houses and apartments. This means they don't have to "scrape by" just to maintain a decent standard of living (like not having to trek through freezing rain and snow just to get to work), and they generally eat better than those whose lifespans were incredibly short just a few decades ago.
Besides, in places where the standard of living hasn't reached a higher level, people are starting to "disappear" even earlier than they did a few decades back.

This is the correct interpretation. Extending life expectancy is primarily a result of improved general living conditions. That doesn't make modern medicine bad, but it certainly doesn't make homeopathy or similar methods any more effective.
Homeopathy: Yay or Nay? in Health ·
😁 😁

I think there was a slight misunderstanding here. To be clear, medications are actually helpful in many different conditions and effectively extend life expectancy.

hiddenviper9 said:shadowfalcon33: It isn’t about what you or I personally believe. It’s about what we can actually prove!

Well, my next 40 years of life will serve as proof that homeopathy helps people achieve longevity, while you'll end up proving that people live shorter lives because they rely on pharmaceutical products. 😉

I don't need to prove anything regarding pharmaceuticals. Others have already done that work for me.

As for your "40 years"—that isn't evidence. That is precisely the issue with homeopathy: a total lack of valid proof.

And there you have it—you've hit the nail right on the head! This isn't about whether you or I choose to believe in something. It’s about what we can actually prove!

shadowfalcon33 said:Can you list which ones are infectious? Or how you actually catch them?

I’m not sure why you’re asking, but I don't think you need to worry about an infectious disease being the cause of a cyst. It’s been a long time since I dealt with those, but regarding illnesses that can lead to cysts, things like pig or swine flu are more likely candidates.

No, it doesn't have to be. Instead, you could use some other kind of semi-liquid substance.
