In my opinion, water might actually be far more dangerous than sugar. I mean, just look at how many people have drowned?

You can find just about anything discussed in this thread.

I highly suggest everyone take a look at what Jim Van Os and his colleagues have to say regarding this matter.

Additionally, there is an interesting piece in Nature worth checking out.

I also warmly recommend that certain participants in this discussion read some hardcore literature on the subject.

If someone's primary motivation is chasing a massive paycheck, they probably shouldn't be entering the medical field in the first place. Besides, there’s nothing stopping a cardiac surgeon from opening a private practice and charging whatever they want for heart surgeries.
Furthermore, those "measly" $7k-$9k salaries actually represent two average American incomes combined—that's not pocket change.

The reasons why we lack pediatric cardiac surgeons are far more complex than just saying "nobody wants to do it."

Does that imply that refined foods would actually make for the perfect weight-loss diet?

Wait, hold on... You actually ran an experiment?! 😲 👍

If the absorption rate is identical, then the metabolic impact should be too. It likely all comes down to those "fillers" Taylor Brown61 was talking about.

True, there is definitely a difference in flavor profile.

I don't quite follow why white sugar is labeled as unhealthy. Proponents of brown sugar often claim it enters the bloodstream more slowly, which sounds plausible on the surface, but I fail to see the actual biochemical basis for it. Sucrose is sucrose, regardless of the color. Unless brown sugar isn't a simple polymer—requiring more time for breakdown, though I'm not certain that would be biologically significant, given how quickly starch converts to glucose—or perhaps there are trace additives involved that slow down the digestion of the sucrose.

The explanation for that, however, isn't actually based on any supposed harm caused by milk.

Certain individuals struggle to process dairy because their bodies lack the specific enzyme needed for digestion—a condition referred to as lactose intolerance. According to the National Institutes of Health, somewhere between 30 and 50 million Americans deal with this issue. It’s also notably more prevalent within specific ethnic communities. Specifically, up to 75 percent of all adult African Americans and Native Americans and 90 percent of Asian Americans consider themselves lactose intolerant.

Exactly. As we can see, these are all people living in the US, not in Africa. Also, pay close attention to the phrasing used here: "consider themselves."

Honestly, it's pretty gross. 😢 Any kind of grease would work just as well, and it’d be way more pleasant.

If we're talking about old-school "home remedies" for sore throats, though, people usually suggest rinsing with sage tea.

If you finish your last meal at 6 PM and don't wake up until 8 AM, your body is essentially going without food for 14 hours—which, frankly, feels like nothing short of torture for your system.
You should definitely eat in the evening; you just need to steer clear of heavy, greasy foods or anything high in carbs, especially those combinations where fats and carbohydrates are paired together.

No pain, no gain! 😁
