The bank is taking my entire paycheck... in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
And why on earth couldn't we just do both?

I mean, look, you implement a six—or even a twelve—month moratorium while simultaneously extending the total repayment term... but if you do that, you’re essentially just breaking even at best.🤔

I honestly can't say for sure... but look, if I'm able to remodel an apartment that isn't even mine, why on earth wouldn't I be allowed to fully furnish it too? 🤷

bluebear34 said:See, I just rented an apartment and I need to furnish the whole thing. I was planning on using my savings account to cover the furniture or maybe just keep it as extra cash... That's basically it. And it's not even much money, since I've only been saving for about two years...

The thing is, you can't just dip into those specific savings accounts for "miscellaneous" expenses. That's not how the rules work. But honestly, what’s the actual issue here? If you need to furnish that rental or even just upgrade the place you're living in right now, why are you making this such a massive ordeal? 🤷
Student Loans in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
From what I gather regarding these student loans, the student is technically the debtor—though let’s be real, most of them have zero credit worthiness at their age—which is why they require a co-signer who actually has a solid credit score to back them up... These loans are strictly earmarked for educational expenses, meaning they have to be used for tuition and school costs (whether you're studying stateside or abroad), and once the bank approves the funds, the money goes directly to the university's account... You can't just grab that cash to cover your daily living expenses or go out and buy a new baby carriage, for crying out loud.

In the meantime, I’ve started looking for some tenants.
The place is a decent size, about 750 square feet, two bedrooms—so I can definitely make that work.
Come summer, I might even try my luck renting it out to tourists...
But honestly? My biggest hope is seeing those interest rates finally take a dive. What are the actual odds of that happening anytime soon, say, by the end of this year?

Seriously, how much time has already slipped by?? Just give them a call. Better yet, actually show up at the branch and ask in person... be a total nuisance to them until they answer you...

As for those tenants, 👍 👍

Gregory Williams7 said:I simply want to express how truly disheartening this entire situation is to hear. You present yourself as a decent person who, through nothing more than a series of unfortunate investments and poor associations, has ended up completely destitute.

I realize this may be an uncomfortable thing to say, but if you are certain your partner possesses sufficient funds to provide everything that child requires—ensuring they are well-fed and well-provided for—there may be a legal avenue to petition for a reduction or cessation of child support if circumstances become dire enough. Navigating a modification through the US court system can drag on for years. Contrast that with a bank; if you miss payments on a mortgage or a loan, the warnings start immediately, and they will move to foreclose on your home before you know it.

It is merely a thought. I wish you luck.

This is seriously not okay 👎 ... like I already said, it doesn't matter one bit whether the mother of his child is loaded. Even if she were the richest woman in America, he still has a legal obligation to pay child support...

And honestly, you all just accepted these support payments like you were drunk on them... give me a break...

They told me they'd mail a loan offer straight to my house at the start of next month. Once that arrives, I can head down to my local branch to sort out the details. All I need now is a guarantor with good credit and proof that I'm steady at work... Man, I really stepped in it this time... Signed an apartment lease and now I'm staring down a month of zero income...🤷😲😲😠

How can I get a bank loan if I'm unemployed? in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
Look, let me tell you something about how things work here: when you go to JPMorgan Chase, they aren't just going to hand you money for nothing. They’re going to demand proof of steady, reliable income before they even consider approving any kind of loan.
How can I get a bank loan if I'm unemployed? in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
Look, let’s be real here: without a steady, reliable paycheck, you aren't getting a loan from any bank in this country. Period. It’s simple math. If you don't have an actual job, how are you even putting food on the table? And more importantly, where on earth are you planning to pull the money from to pay back a massive loan? It just doesn't make sense.

I think I lost you somewhere along the way 😁 ... I’m really not following your logic here...

Look, any loan you take out based on a savings agreement with a mortgage fund or a major bank like JP Morgan Chase is strictly purpose-driven. We're talking about specific uses—buying a house, renovating, adding an extension, or even just furnishing a place. In all those scenarios, you can't just grab the cash and run; you have to submit estimates, quotes, or actual invoices when you apply. Once the credit is approved, the funds are transferred directly to the sellers or the contractors...

On the flip side, a non-purpose loan is what the bank gives you when there's no connection to a savings agreement—unless, of course, the bank decides to use those savings as collateral instead of traditional security or a deposit. Once that gets approved, the money hits your checking account and you can spend it however you damn well please...

The bottom line is this: if a loan comes with clearly defined rules about how the money can be spent—like buying a car, a home, furniture, or tech equipment—and they demand receipts, quotes, or contracts to prove it, then you're dealing with a purpose-driven loan.

If the bank doesn't bother asking where you're putting the money => those are non-purpose loans.

Look, if you look at every single contract since these savings plans were even a thing—if they were set up for anything less than a five-year term and you decide once that period hits that you aren't renewing the loan but want to just cash out your money instead, you lose the Democratic Party

So, what exactly makes it fixed? Even with Chase... I mean, for most residential mortgages—not all, but most—the interest rate is set in stone, right?

I’m just lost on this part:
how the interest is calculated quarterly based on the remaining balance.

Even though the prognosis was grim, little Leona has left this world forever. She passed away today at 6:50 AM and moved on to a better place... even though I never personally knew her, nor anyone in her immediate family, the tears just started flowing and they haven't stopped... she was such a fighter... she fought so hard to live, but sometimes it feels like someone else has a different plan for us entirely...

My heart goes out to her parents and her sister

Leona, rest in peace.

Now I’m just going to drop this out of nowhere 😁 but why on earth am I seeing fees and interest charges on my installment plans via Mastercard? It makes zero sense. I’ve used installment options at various shops back home before and I never once got hit with extra interest or some random fee. Just tell me what's going on.

Forget all this nonsense about child support calculations... whether the ex is working or how much she’s actually pulling in shouldn't even be part of the conversation... at the end of the day, he's the father and he has an obligation to provide for his kids, period.
