When I'm sitting on the bus... in Psychology & Therapy ·
Henry Harris6 said:You probably just smell bad.
But if we want to be optimistic, here are a few tactical moves:
1. Pick the window seat instead of the one near the aisle.
2. When you see someone approaching, make brief eye contact and subtly shift your legs to the right—it’s a silent signal that the space is open.
3. If the subway is packed and the only available seat is next to you, just stare out the window. Even if you hear someone sitting down, keep staring blankly for another two or three minutes.
4. Whatever you do, never look at the person who sat down next to you.

😂😂🤣

I totally get that—it’s just unsettling when what you see on your Tegretol doesn't match up with the official paperwork. A friend of mine was actually prescribed Rivotril for sleep, which is why I'm asking... it's just one of those things that sticks in your head.

Does anyone here have experience with Klonopin? I'm wondering if it actually functions as a mood stabilizer—like, what else is it used for besides epilepsy? It’s not explicitly listed on my prescription info. Thanks!😉

I'm sorry, I missed whether you mentioned exactly which medications you're on, but if you're only taking Xanax, I have to say your psychiatrist isn't being very responsible. He's filling you up with anxiolytics that create a massive dependency rather than actually treating the root cause.
Are you taking an antidepressant?
Xanax won't impact your sex life, but antidepressants definitely can; they aren't the same thing.
If I were you, I wouldn't increase the Xanax dose, or perhaps look into switching to something else entirely, because Xanax isn't going to cure you or provide long-term relief.
I'd love to know who this doctor is! 🙄
By the way, if you need something during pregnancy, you can take Ativan; it shouldn't harm the baby. 👍

When people get too high, doctors just start prescribing sedatives instead.

Unfortunately, this forum is her therapist.☕

How exactly are you taking it—dosage and timing? Are you taking it right before bed? For some reason, I had this idea stuck in my head that it would knock me out, though maybe once the mania settles down, I won't feel it as much... even though I don't really feel manic right now. Anyway, I'm slowly tapering off the Lamictal since I'm starting Tegretol.

Have you dealt with any side effects?

Has anyone here tried using Tegretol as a mood stabilizer?
thx🙏

Oh boy, I slept for a whole three hours on Dormicum!
Do you think I actually need general anesthesia???!!!

A friend of mine cycled through six different antidepressants for social anxiety, even though he felt an improvement from the very first dose. He turned every minor side effect—weight gain from one, weight loss from another, dry mouth from a third—into a massive ordeal, and his psychiatrist just kept accommodating every single request.
After four years, he’s still on various treatments and hasn't made any real progress.

🙄😲

Pills have basically become a fad! It’s always one trendy med this year, then another one next year, just going on and on forever. 😳

Have you dealt with something like that personally?🤷

Taking some Ambien tomorrow and calling out sick

Once I finally get my sleep situation sorted out—fingers crossed—then we can talk about adjusting my medication

Roger Rodriguez said:It isn't bipolar, though the symptoms overlap quite a bit. That said, during the cycle 😬 the symptoms don't hit nearly as hard.
Regardless, I'm with you—if fadedbear92 actually has cyclothymia, then the therapy they're using just isn't cutting it.

Ugh, you guys are such a drag😁—I’m getting my new meds tomorrow, and then I’ll turn into a werewolf just to scare you all😂🤣😲

Nathan Kim10 said:Listen, if you actually have bipolar disorder, then your medication is completely to blame.😢😲

it isn't bipolar
Clinical Profile
We're looking at mood instability that persists over a long stretch of time—involving frequent bouts of mild depression and mild hypomania. It typically kicks in during early adulthood and can turn into a chronic condition, even though those "normal" mood stretches might last for months at a time. The condition is similar to bipolar disorder, except the symptoms aren't quite as extreme (mostly involving manic, depressive, or mixed manic-depressive episodes). These mood swings aren't triggered by outside life events. Cyclothymia can eventually evolve into full-blown bipolar disorder, where the intensity of the moods becomes much more severe.
Cyclothymic disorder involves chronic mood fluctuations lasting longer than two years (or one year for children and adolescents), characterized by numerous depressive symptoms and hypomanic episodes.

Look, I’m not even going to stress about it—I’ve got cyclothymia, or whatever they call it these days to make it sound more official... I just have my cycles.😍

I don't know what to tell you, I just look at the way things are going and feel like we're all just circling the drain. It’s like watching a slow-motion train wreck where everyone is too busy arguing about the color of the conductor's hat to notice the tracks ended three miles back. You try to make sense of the chaos, to find some kind of logic in the madness, but most days it feels like trying to catch smoke with your bare hands. You can lean on the old certainties all you want, but they don't hold much weight anymore when the wind starts blowing this hard. kaže:

Living with F33.3—that heavy, recurring depressive disorder where the psychosis starts creeping in—is like being stuck in a permanent, chronic phase of a storm that just refuses to break. It’s not just feeling down; it’s this deep, systemic exhaustion where reality itself begins to feel like it's fraying at the edges.
Holy crap, I just realized my level is sitting at 33.3.😱

It’s that stage where you realize this isn't just a temporary setback or a bad week; it's the long haul. You stop waiting for the storm to pass and just start learning how to live in the rain. It becomes part of the landscape, like a constant, dull hum in the background of everything you do.

I mean, seriously... honestly, God, what did I ever do to deserve this?🙂

Hey, don't stress too much—I'm sure there's a medication out there for that.👍

Nathan Kim10 said:I don't even know what to tell you. I mean—you've already cycled through a ton of different meds. 🤷Have you tried Ambien? It’s a hypnotic—you just take 10 mg before bed.

No, I haven't, and frankly, everything is going to knock me out long before that does—we'll see how tomorrow goes. Honestly, I think I actually got some rest because I crashed around 7:00 and slept for a solid two hours thanks to those damn 10 mg Prozac pills... and then they have the nerve to tell me not to take anything else at night. Grrrr.

I was practically a walking Freud textbook—super lively and restless😉 while on Paxil, and now my doctor is cutting me off because I can't catch a wink of sleep!

And that’s really all you have to say to me?!😲
