This movie is seriously legit. It’s a masterpiece.😁 Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon are incredible. The runtime is perfect, too—actually, someone else mentioned this, but I could honestly watch it for another two hours straight, even though I'm not even a huge Johnny Cash fan. If you value my opinion—and honestly, if you value yourself, you should—just go see it.😁
Larry Bailey2 said:Last spring, I had two moles removed using laser technology at the Mayo Clinic by Dr. Nolan. There isn't a single scar! They sent everything off for testing, too. Since I had my insurance coverage, the whole thing was totally free. I'm so happy with the results that I'm planning to get another 4 or 5 removed very soon!
Hey, what's Dr. Nolan's full name? I think I recognize him—he looks to be about 45?
I really hope Spielberg and his crew (Brešan, Nola) are reading this, because according to them, Americans don't even read books or watch movies. Or maybe it's just everyone in America except for their "highly educated" elite circle.😎 Honestly, the total ignorance regarding the difference between a chat room and a forum isn't surprising coming from a self-proclaimed genius who kills five sparrows and traumatizes several cats just to make his "brilliant" film, then has the nerve to lie about using animal models. Either stand behind your (lack of) work or admit you're a fraud. I'm voting for the second option.😲 👎 Oh, please! Give me a break.🙄
1. Not quite like the first one. They toned down the action scenes just a tiny bit. 2. Nope. 3. None at all. Absolutely zero. Aside from that killer red rose and her bust, her appearance was totally pointless. 4. ??? 5. How did you not know? Neo doesn't sweat. Hehe. 6. Captain Kirk is a god. The Smiths and Neo don't even come close. He could do everything on that list and still break a real sweat. That's a real man right there.😁
I find Ali Hadžijev's sense of humor totally lame, let alone funny. That joke about the girl from Mexico was just as bad. 👎
It doesn't feel like a great analogy for the movie we're discussing. And if it actually is a good analogy, then the movie is just straight-up terrible. 🤔
Actually, Melissa Moore32, both Ali G and Lost in translation are right on that same level... which is pretty obvious from my posts.🙄 The joke about the girl from Mexico was just for comparison! The point is you probably think it's hilarious when people make fun of Chinese, Turkish, Swedish, or Arab people, but it's less funny when they poke fun at Americans. Why is that so hard to grasp? And whether the movie is actually bad or not, you won't know until you watch it. You shouldn't draw wrong conclusions based on wrong assumptions. 😉
No way... Murray definitely delivered the performance of a lifetime in this one. Even though he was also stellar in Groundhog Day back in the day.😉 Regarding the jokes about Japan, I don't think it's just our perspective. It isn't just funny to US; better yet, it wasn't even funny to me, but rather, it's meant to be funny to THEM in the movie. Plus, Japanese culture and certain traits are definitely being caricatured here. Honestly, the best move would probably be to ask an actual Japanese person how they felt about it. It's the same way I felt during Ali G, where they make fun of a Canadian girl for being ugly—it would have felt way different if she had been American.
I saw him at the Cannes Film Festival and he wasn't bad, but let's not call him a genius just yet. He's got that one clever opening scene, but most people at the festival didn't exactly hail it as a masterpiece. That said, Gene Hackman is absolutely fantastic in this. Nice country is way better—much deeper and funnier.
I was talking about Terminator 3, which I thought was a terrible movie. That’s actually being polite, honestly.😉 brightscout63, if you're thinking of that tie and his even worse fire flick that picked up some awards, then that isn't exactly a masterpiece either.
Just saw the second Sofia Coppola flick to hit the local film festival here in the States.. Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson play two Americans traveling through Tokyo. He's an aging actor filming a whiskey commercial, while she's tagging along with her photographer husband. The movie is gorgeous. You have to see it. Murray is definitely giving us a career-defining performance here. My only gripe is how the film pokes fun at Japanese culture in a way that feels totally disconnected from Western perspectives. Anyone else caught this yet?
I'm back again! I honestly felt like the scenes didn't fit together quite right; they just sort of bleed into one another without much logic. ...the cuts feel a bit butchered. It’s pretentious, just like so many others, but man, with him, it really gets under your skin. The ending wouldn't have been so pathetic without that whole fog and lights-out moment, though even then, you're left wondering "what are you thinking, Dad?" after it repeats for the third time. I actually thought Julianne Moore was good in dead girl—that movie has its own set of issues, but I'll get to those later. Look, there are bad movies everywhere, and American hyper-production churns out an unbelievable amount of garbage, which is why I'm comparing Terminator to Scooby-Doo rather than Terminator to The Godfather. We produce so few films here compared to Europe or the rest of the world, yet every single one is served up as either a masterpiece or some tiny indie art film (looking at you, Greta Gerwig, absolute trash)... And if the rest of American cinema is way worse than this, then obviously this movie is going to look better by comparison. But we should be comparing it to the rest of the world!
Hmm... it’s not a bad movie, but it definitely isn't a masterpiece. It's packed with these little interconnected stories that don't always mesh together perfectly. Spielberg comes off as a bit pretentious, and that ending with the father and son? Pretty pathetic. The acting, though, is actually fascinating... the young actress is great, Ivo Gregurevic is a genius as always, and it wasn't Meryl Streep but Prpic... who is also excellent... The dead girl is still a much better movie in my book, and we'll get to the Spielberg projection after Knight Rider, Witness, and the new Krelje... who knows, maybe once I see those, this will turn out to be a masterpiece, because unfortunately, I can only compare American film to itself...
hm... It's definitely NOT a bad movie, but I wouldn't go calling it a masterpiece either. There are tons of little stories tied together by a theme, but they don't feel seamlessly connected... I have zero complaints about the editing or the camerawork, and honestly, the acting is surprisingly good for an American production—it's more Prpic than Meryl Streep. The ending feels a bit cheesy, and Spielberg comes off as pretty pretentious. no, all of this will finally make sense once you've seen the works of Krelja, Brešan, Ivanda, and those other geniuses... because American cinema can only truly compete with its own best. Maybe if you outdo Spielberg, I'll start liking him more. oh, and honestly, dead girl is still a better movie than this one.
Has anyone actually seen this? What a total disaster of a movie... the acting is just painful. A 200-meter submarine cruising through the canals of Venice? And a carnival in July?! Just a mountain of nonsense...
Maybe I'm being biased, but a man basically has to view you as a woman and her anatomy to truly feel that spark. You wouldn't want to just run into him for a quick coffee later on, right?😁 No matter how many guys I meet, it just feels true... I once visited this woman who was incredibly blunt and snapped, "Are you ever going to take your clothes off?!" It made me feel absolutely terrible.😢
